Developing Accessible Websites for Older People

http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/changelogs/cl-sites-older-users.html

Andrew: Any comments on the rationale and objective

Darren: Thinks it reads fine

Andrew: Scenarios of people who will try to use it were added

Darren: thinks the changes are fine

Kate: agrees that it is all ok

http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/sites-older-users/Overview.html

Andrew: Some overlap between background of this document and the draft "landing page".

<Andrew> draft landing page > http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/older-users

Darren: would it be like: http://www.w3.org/WAI/managing.html?

Andrew: more like: http://www.w3.org/WAI/mobile/

Darren: Prefer the mobile page with the context and discussion
... Prefers the broader background on the landing page

Andrew: in Overview.html drop Using the Web and Good Business sections of the background?
... and add pointers to, eg. http://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/quickref/Overview.php

Andrew: In Further advice section, which bits are appropriate to keep / remove / put somewhere else?

Darren: Not sure about Organizational Policies if developers are using this page, then there is probably a policy in place

Andrew: Keep Involving Users
... remove Awareness and Training.

Darren: Agrees

Kate: Keep Authoring Tools

Andrew: Standards Harmonization?

Kate: Developers are interested in this kind of thing.

Darren: Can see it as being useful

Andrew: add in WAI-IG mailing list pointer

Andrew: Anything missing?

Darren: merge WAI Guidelines into Introduction

Andrew: The tables have been structured to match the WCAG 2 structure. Any comments on structure / order / layout?

Kate: Fine in the order they appear

Andrew: wording of SC - short name or full description?

Kate: Short name adequate.

Darren: Agrees

Andrew: Some text is not the short text but a slightly longer version to match Shadi's document

<Andrew> http://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/Drafts/PWD-Use-Web/2009/provisions.html

Andrew: Should we add a paragraph below title before table with full text?

<Andrew> http://www.w3.org/WAI/WCAG20/quickref/#text-equiv-all - but not repeat all the "situations listed below"

Darren: Yes

Andrew: In 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum), how do we add in the 18pt/bold information

Darren: Leave the basic one in

Kate: in "Ensuring that a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 exists between text (and images of text) and background behind the text" add a hint that this applies to normal text - eg in brackets
