Issue 2 basic Ontology concepts

<JohnG> +q

<krp> +q

JohnG: what is the status for relationship between processes and systems?

Michael: System describes structural make up, Proceses describe temporal ordering and data flow.

<JohnG> I appreciated the point that pushing system and process together prematurely may mush different types of things unhelpfully.

<JohnG> +q

<michael> +q

<michael> hasSubsystem also sounds like a sensible name

<michael> +q

<krp> +q

<Manfred_DERI> +q

<JohnG> To finish about system and process, I concur that whether these are related will, in the end, depend on their exact definitions.

<cory> +q

<laurent_oz> Recommends to have explanations which covers the different cases explicitly

<kerry> michael's comment is important for composable ontologies

<laurent_oz> 1st case is complex sensing system with sub-system, components, sensors

<laurent_oz> 2nd case is simple sensor

<kerry> +q

<michael> Luis is missing - he is interested in this.

<JohnG> can you please post the link to the definitions page? (or is it http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/SWE_terms?)

<michael> +q

<laurent_oz> Yes that's the page I talked about

<scribe> ACTION: laurent_oz to update the terminology from micheals email [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2010/01/05-ssn-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-4 - Update the terminology from micheals email [on Laurent Lefort - due 2010-01-12].

kerry: vote and pin down the structure proposed by michael, so we can go on

<krp> (not -1!)

<michael> good idea

<krp> only that hasComponent is inconsistently named, but I think Michael's already noted that.

<michael> yeah hasSubsystem ??

Semantic Markup

<krp> yeah, that would seem more consistent... if a mouthful ;)

<laurent_oz> Link to the page http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/Review_of_semantic_annotation_proposals

<JohnG> +q

<kerry> laurent -- krysztof has volunteered to write on sapience in the XG report, too

+q

<krp> That's why we have to work on it soon ;)

SSN-XG Webprotege page: http://130.83.166.191/webprotege/

<laurent_oz> Note to JohnG: the SWE terms page (http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/ssn/wiki/SWE_terms) is the page we agree to use as a mean to converge on the terms used especially for cases where a term can be used with 2 different meanings. It started as a OGC-centric one. I added the VIM terms. Everyone is invited to review and amend it. The nominated co-editors are Luis and Kevin.

<laurent_oz> I want to be a WebProtege user
