Charter Renewal

JB: Review of changes to the Charter Milestones

KF: This seems more reasonable and achievable

JA: Ok

JS: More achievable

JB: Can I add the Errata document?

KF: Agreed

JA: Agreed

JS: Agreed
... Give an example of what goes in the Errata document?

JB: It is the corrections document.
... These are standard placeholder pages for corrections.
... The participation page has also changed. I would like to see the participation at 8.
... Also changed the F2F number from 3-4 to 2.
... to reflect the trend toward fewer F2F meetings.

+1

discussion on participation and potential participants

Last Item in 4.1

JA: We had discussion, but never reached a final resolution.

* 4.1.11 Intergroup Navigation: Allow the user to navigate from group

to group of focusable items (e.g., toolbars, dialogs, panels, etc.)

JB: why not combine it with 4.1.7?

JA: It is a different level 4.1.7 is AA and 4.1.11 is AAA.

KF: Once you make something accessible from the keyboard, it is the same amount of work whatever you do. It could be merged.

JA: I think it could be merged.

KF: If there are so many controls that they have to be visually grouped, then you have to be able to move directly to the group. You can't tab through 50 controls.

JS: Agreed

Guideline 4.4 Help users avoid flashing that could cause seizures

4.4.1 Below Threshold: The user interface "chrome" never violates the general flash or red flash thresholds.

4.4.1 Below Threshold: The user interface never violates the general flash or red flash thresholds. [copy definitions here from WCAG]

JS: The levels are in harmony with WCAG

JB: A great deal of research has been done to define these thresholds. It may be appropriate to make a note that refers people to the definitions and tools.
... We need to give people more than a hint of what to do.

KF: A link with more detail in a definition is ok. The techniques should link to tools. (Trace tools?)

Definition in WCAG: http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/CR-WCAG20-20080430/#general-thresholddef

<AllanJ> issue: 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 - do we just link to definition that include all info from wcag, or add short note in explanation with link to definitions and techniques

Guideline 4.6 Provide text search

4.6.1 Search Rendered: The user can perform a search within rendered (e.g., not hidden with a style) content for text and text alternatives for a sequence of characters from the document character set.

JA: The back history is that it requires searching within the text and the text alternatives.

4.6.2 Bi-Directional: The user has the option of searching forward or backward (in document order) from any selected or focused location in content.

JB: We should not need parenthetical comments to explain it. I recommend we assign it to be scrubbed a little.
