Scheduling Heartbeat publication

Original scheduled for last week in September. Jeanne has available time next week to prepare the document for publication. Judy estimates that it will take 3 days for Jeanne to prepare the first time.

Agenda for F2f

JB: I recommend we spend some time doing a review of the entire document. What topics would other people be interested it?

MH: Longdesc both for AT users and non-AT users.

JS: Video

JB: Philippe le Hegeret will be at TPAC, do we want to invite him?

group agreement.

JB: We should do some advance work on Video prior to TPAC.

MH will draft requirements for video based on Guideline 3.2 alternative content.

<mth> ACTION: MH to write first draft of video requirements (based on guideline 3, 3.2 access to alternative content), send to JA by Monday Oct 29 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/09/18-ua-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-11 - Write first draft of video requirements (based on guideline 3, 3.2 access to alternative content), send to JA by Monday Oct 29 [on Markku Hakkinen - due 2008-09-25].

JA: The User AGent should provide the basic controls for video, and the author can skin it the way the author wants.
... Currently we have a 100 wrong ways to do video controls because the author has to build the controls.

JB: The browser builds the controls, the author skins it, and the user tweaks it to me accessibility.
... This is conceptually very important. Does this bridge several of the guidelines of UAAG?

JA: Yes. It is a whole new level -- we address the specifics of how the control will work, but stop short of saying to the browser vendors, "You need to provide this."

<scribe> ACTION: JS to add a link to the content in the Editor's draft. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/09/18-ua-minutes.html#action02]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-12 - Add a link to the content in the Editor's draft. [on Jeanne Spellman - due 2008-09-25].

JA: Compound documents are an issue. The user agent has to turn control over to another user agent the video player.

JB: PLH is busy during TPAC, but would like to meet with us to talk about his visits to browser venders

<scribe> ACTION: JA to create a list of issues for next meeting to plan the agenda for the F2F. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2008/09/18-ua-minutes.html#action03]

<trackbot> Created ACTION-13 - Create a list of issues for next meeting to plan the agenda for the F2F. [on Jim Allan - due 2008-09-25].

Here's the current list of issues:

http://www.w3.org/WAI/UA/wiki/Uaag2IssuesList

JA: Part of the trouble is that we don't have the expertise to address some of the upcoming issues.

JB: We need to do some enrollment of people interested in the topics -- people who aren't interested in keyboard have dropped off. They need to know when we are going to talk about the things they are interested in.
... TPAC is a great opportunity to network.

Open Issues from the Wiki list:

#1 Printing in the user agent

#2 Keyboard access controls

#3 UA and Video

#4 Reworking all of PRINCIPLE 2. Facilitate access by assistive technologies

JB: Avoid #4.
... In #1 Printing, did the definition of flow and reflow address the sizing issue of PDFs?

JA: I don't think so. We talked about flow and reflow, but we never addressed pdf and printing with the larger font size.

How to get more comments on our publications

JB: The broadcast invitation to comment isn't working. We should target individual people that we want to comment and send them personal invitations.
... We can discuss more at the next meeting. A few emails or personal phone calls may also inspire more people to participate.

Jeanne will invite Greg Pisocky to talk about PDF reflow.

JA: Andrew Kirkpatrick and Greg P will not be at TPAC.
