<ebruchez> hello

<wellsk> I am having telephone problems and will call in as soon as possible!

<Nick> no

<Nick> I'm agreeing with it

<Nick> but what we do then with sumproduct?

<John_Boyer> Proposed Resolution: Add to XForms 1.2 the capability to express function and procedure interfaces and implementations

<John_Boyer> function - side effect free and can be invoked from XPath

<John_Boyer> procedure - possible side effects and invoked from actions

<John_Boyer> Possibility for multiple implementations, including XForms actions, script or anything else plugged in to the processor

<Nick> you want to use the functions everywhere you have an xpath expression

<Nick> I'm added the topics we discussed to http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/wiki/XFormsReq12 (and will keep doing it)

Add to XForms 1.2 the capability to define interfaces to and implementations of extensions for both side-effect and side-effect-free operations, along with the specification of which points these extensions may be invoked, including but not limited to XPath expressions and actions.

<CharlieWiecha> +1

<John_Boyer> +1

<ebruchez> sure

<Nick> +1

<wellsk> +1

<Blake> +1

<markbirbeck> +1

<Schnitz> +1

<Schnitz> :-)

RESOLUTION: Add to XForms 1.2 the capability to define interfaces to and implementations of extensions for both side-effect and side-effect-free operations, along with the specification of which points these extensions may be invoked, including but not limited to XPath expressions and actions.

<Nick> sounds perfect for me

<Nick> yes

<Nick> erik, will do

<Nick> no, go ahead

<Nick> I'll add some text to http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Forms/wiki/XFormsReq12 description why we need it)

<scribe> ACTION: Erik Bruchez to send email to write up initial draft for extensions. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/12/19-forms-minutes.html#action01]

<trackbot-ng> Created ACTION-437 - Bruchez to send email to write up initial draft for extensions. [on Erik Bruchez - due 2007-12-26].

<trackbot-ng> Created ACTION-438 - Bruchez to produce spec-ready text for XForms 1.2 extensions. [on Erik Bruchez - due 2007-12-26].

<scribe> ACTION: Leigh Klotz to investigate and report on possible uses for extension functions outside of xf:action/* and */[@nodeset or @ref or @value]. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/12/19-forms-minutes.html#action03]

<trackbot-ng> Created ACTION-439 - Klotz to investigate and report on possible uses for extension functions outside of xf:action/* and */[@nodeset or @ref or @value]. [on Leigh Klotz, Jr. - due 2007-12-26].

XPath 2.0 as module

<John_Boyer> http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-forms/2007Dec/0040.html

<Nick> we maybe even want to allow different languages for the query (to specify node sets and refer nodes), constraint and calculation language

<Nick> If we do add XPath 2.0 I would prefer we first try if we could add support for pluggable languages

<markbirbeck> But could also support JSON, for example.

<markbirbeck> Perhaps my @hasFeature proposal from years ago?

<scribe> ACTION: Erik Bruchez to investigate adding XPath 2.0 to XForms 1.2 in a modular way that encompasses adding other pluggable languages in the future. [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/12/19-forms-minutes.html#action04]

<trackbot-ng> Created ACTION-440 - Bruchez to investigate adding XPath 2.0 to XForms 1.2 in a modular way that encompasses adding other pluggable languages in the future. [on Erik Bruchez - due 2007-12-26].

<Nick> happy holiday season

<Nick> bye
