Eric: Planning for F2F
... November 7th and 8th for F2F

Tonya: Correction November 8th and 9th for F2f

Eric: Looking at the past, planning for the future
... Next chapter will be happening at the TPAC
... Notes: BIORDF, ACPP, BIONT-DSE...
... Call - BIONTDSEDCM = Clinical Observations Interoperability

Alan: OK to call the group

Alan, Eric: Discussion on structure and content of W3C notes

Tonya: Helpful for HCLSIG to frame the note so that the individual groups can contribute

<scribe> ACTION: Get together to frame the notes [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2007/09/27-hcls-minutes.html#action01]

Eric: Majority of the folks need to see it fit into their business cases
... Not get too myopic ... Identify issues in Informatics space and this is where Semantics helps

Alan: What the lessons are from HCLS?

Eric: We should not talk to ourselves

<jar286> who besides ourselves will be at the F2F? I thought this F2F would be mostly HCLS members, like the Amsterdam meeting - but tell me I'm wrong!

Eric, Alan: Discussion on the goal of HCLSIG and how to communicate and present value

<jar286> creating consumers of RDF doesn't help the W3C? hmm. maybe not.

Alan: We have done well on our objectives wrt to the Goals

Eric: Shouild not be too academic as we are missing something

<jar286> Mission Statement

<jar286> The Semantic Web for Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group (HCLSIG) is chartered to develop and support the use of Semantic Web technologies to improve collaboration, research and development, and innovation adoption in the of Health Care and Life Science domains.

SWEO web pages -- scenarios and use cases

Alan: Talking to Pharma companies

Eric: Semantic Web works with Policy
... Role of open standards

<jar286> can we capture in the minutes what Tonya said please?

I am sorry I stepped out for a minute

Can someone fill this in?

Alan: Message to Pharma

Only one candidate for data integration

Alan: More publically available knowledge
... Flexible architecture is adopted internally, will provide benefit and enable the ability to plug in

Eric: Need to communicate and message at different levels

Alan: Social process for distributed data integration

<jluciano> Sorry I'm sooooo late

Alan: Talking about technology can be a distraction from the message of what needs to be done

<alanr> talking about the technology of distributed databases is a distraction. The message is SPARQL has multiple FROM <> statements. Each is from a different source. It's built in to the technology

<jluciano> it may be important to not merge the activities of science commons and HCLSIG

<jluciano> my last comment was in respose to Alan saying that it was we (science commons) meeting with Merck

<jluciano> and that in Alans mind this work is (?) the same in his mind (Alan please clarify)

Are they decision makers?

<jar286> Joanne, Alan's job is to meet with pharmas and others re science commons's goals. Part of that discussion is promotion of HCLS and W3C, as there is considerable harmony in the respective efforts. That does not consitute 'merging'.

<jluciano> Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the clarification.

<jluciano> Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the clarification.

<jar286> do we know who will be attending the f2f?

Alan: No Techno Talk

Eric: Agrees
