Web 2.0 architectures

• AJAX client-side interaction ++
• Server processes the data
• Mashups:
  • One per application
  • Each needs coding in Javascript
  • Each needs data scraping/converting
  • Multiple maps (etc) not one
• Essentially centralized
• Why is Skype/Flickr/Delicious/etc/etc a web site instead of a protocol?
• Some sites give data back (de.li.cio.us etc)
• Reuse of data limited to host site
