<Don> Hi Bill...I leave for Neuroscience in a couple of hours...hope to see you there!
<vipul> Can someone paste the URL here?
Eric -> action items from Amsterdam
<jim> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLS/F2F/Actions
Eric -> no formal decision has been made by this group on LSIDs vs. URIs
<vipul> http://esw.w3.org/topic/HCLS/F2F/BioRDFBIONT?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=BioRDF-BIONT.ppt
Vipul -> use of PubChem in Parkinson's use case is that it has MeSH annotations, links to all the ligands associated with the disease.
NCBCs had a discussion trying to fix on "knowledge sources" that they'll normalize for their own use.
one major issue is whether these computing centers should move to RDF or not
is there guidance HCLS can provide?
Bill Bug has some close associations with Daniel Reuben, Director of CBIO
Eric says it's up to us, not them, to provide a demonstration that RDF etc. actually work.
Vipul -> wants to get a demo and recommendations for best practices in 2007
Eric suggested decreasing the scope of all of what Vipul's suggesting.
<jim> sorry - gtg
Susie -> BioRDF update
Alan -> "mini-hackathon" report
tried to merge the SenseLab and the cocodat(?) datasets
mistakes in file formats were picked up by the reasoner
<BillBug> Daniel's of NCBO is Daniel Rubin
thanks, Bill
Alan also saw performace problems with KIDD
<eneumann> zakim, who's here?
<BillBug> The URL for the NCBC discussion of biomed. ontology recommendations for NCBCs is at http://na-mic.org/Wiki/index.php/SDIWG:_NCBC_Scientific_Ontologies. I don't know what the status recommendation is. The last post were following up to the NCBC AHM back in July.
People are historically very focussed on terms, but the focus really needs to be on the definitions of those terms.
Problems have been with no definitions, too many definitions, conflicting definitions.
Susie volunteered to coordinate the collaborative calls for BioRDF
<vipul> Susie... when do you think we should schedule the collaborative call?
Eric -> other actitivies around clinical data standards: CDISC is one
<vipul> Do let us know some alternatives and whether you would like to keep it every alternate week?
CDISC have a tabulation model, but no ontology development per se going on
CDISC have no support for biomarkers (other problems?)
The demo being specified for DSE will be around SDTM standards
Ted said that there is fresh interest, at least at Pfizer, in these standards, and in W3C standards,
with some interest in investment in this area
There were several (many?) occasions where we couldn't hear the speakers on the phone because people who were not speaking were not muting their phones.
Please remember to mute your phone when you're not speaking.
Eric -> make working drafts and other information available to the group earlier rather than later
Eric says that the next call will be 26 Oct.
Eric would like to get specific updates on demos, etc., from each activity since the last teleconference.
These should be brief, 5-10 minutes long.
Eric also would like information made available online for the workshop at Iswick coming up in about 3 weeks.
<BillBug> bye all!
