Austin Trip

U.T. Austin is having a seminar, The Research Library in the 21st Century September 11 - 12. In particular, my plans include:

• Dinner with President Powers Monday from 5:30pm to 7pm.
• Panel 2: The Implications of Digital Scholarship for Research Libraries. Challenges of Access and Preservation Tuesday from 10am to 11:15am

  Panelists: Dan Connolly W3C, Kevin Guthrie President ITHAKA, Alice Prochaska University Librarian Yale University,

• Luncheon Keynote: A Summing Up: Challenges and Opportunities for Research Libraries in the Digital Age Tuesday from 11:30 to 1pm

  Speaker: Jim Neal Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian Columbia University

I'm staying at the Doubletree at 303 W 15th St, arriving Sunday, 10 Sep and departing Wednesday, 13 Sep.

While I'm there, I'm juggling a few other opportunities:

• visit the ACL2 seminar to talk about proof in the Semantic Web in our Policy Aware Web (PAW) and Transparent Accountable Datamining Initiative (TAMI) projects
  Wednesday from 4 to 6 in ACES 3.116.

• Boyer's Phl 313K or CS 336 class Fri? (any day M-F) at 8 a.m

  why proof is important in computer science

• visit the Dean's Scholars lunch on Friday to talk with that group of U.T. Austin undergraduate natural sciences students about this group of MIT students working on browseable data in the tabulator project.

Plus I had a chat about a practical applications of C.S. theory with a colleague the Wednesday afternoon after the symposium.
