<Makoto> Good morning :-)

Guideline 2.1 proposals

<scribe> scribe: Michael

resolution: take all actions in http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wcag-teamc/2006Jan/0005.html

Techniques for GL 2.1

andi will do technique for 2.1.1

instructions at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/w3c-wai-gl/2005OctDec/1480.html

<scribe> ACTION: Michael ask editors if we need to work out the techniques for the failures right now [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action01]

guide doc at http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=How_to_Meet_Success_Criterion_2.1.1

SC: need technique to show where task requires analog time-dependent input

or example, not technique?

<scribe> ACTION: someone create example to show where task requires analog time-dependent input [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action02]

actually, sufficient examples seem to be there

<scribe> ACTION: andi do technique for "Using keyboard-controllable event handlers for all functionality" [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action03]

SC: maybe need technique to distinguish 2.1.1 and 2.1.2

MC: technique for using keyboard even when analog or time-dependent input present, e.g., work out painting program example
... maybe we don't create technique, but clarify that SC exludes use of things like painting programs that meet the exception criteria to 2.1.1

but that would mean that it's just an "unmeetable" version of 2.1.1

<scribe> ACTION: Michael survey on these options for 2.1.2 (create technique, clarify SC excludes things that use analog, or declare SC redundant) [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action04]

Guideline 2.2 techniques

2.2.2: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=How_to_Meet_Success_Criterion_2.2.1

2.2.1: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=How_to_Meet_Success_Criterion_2.2.1

"including no timeouts" seems redundant - doesn't apply if there are no timeouts

resolution: remove Situation A and technique (not applicable)
... move Situation C to boneyard

<scribe> ACTION: Michael raise questions on list re server/session timeouts to group re 2.2.1 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action05]

2.2.2: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=How_to_Meet_Success_Criterion_2.2.2

resolution: remove "situations" and add technique about blinking for less than 3 seconds

issue of whether blinking is so distracting users can't use feature to disable it

consider whether to remove second clause of SC, or make like flashing content and require advance disabling

issue 1819: http://trace.wisc.edu/bugzilla_wcag/issuereports/time-limits_issues.php?NOR#1819

<scribe> ACTION: Michael raise question to group about blinking distracting users from turning it off (see ednote for SC) [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action06]

2.2.3: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=Guide_to_2.2_L2_SC2

discussion of creating script technique, but none of us could do so

resolution: remove technique about pausing, then restarting live content to boneyard (hard to manage)

2.2.4: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=Guide_to_2.2_L3_SC1

this one looks ok

2.2.5: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=Guide_to_2.2_L3_SC2

is "emergency" as defined really going to happen on the web?

resolution: remove 1st & 3rd technique because they're not about how to postpone or suppress update

2.2.6: http://trace.wisc.edu/wcag_wiki/index.php?title=Guide_to_2.2_L3_SC3

resolution: remove technique about reauthentication in separate viewport - causes violation of unexpected change of context

Planning

Need to write 6 techniques for 2.2

<scribe> ACTION: Michael send to list the techniques we need and ask for volunteers [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action07]

<scribe> ACTION: Michael do issue summary for 2.2 [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action08]

<scribe> ACTION: Michael do issue summary for 2.5 also [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2006/01/09-wcag-teamc-minutes.html#action09]
