The mission of the Rule Interchange Format (RIF) Working Group is to produce W3C Recommendations for rules interchange

    • PROPOSED: If we get a consensus on one of Sandro's options, we will pass a resolution accordingly and close issue-34 during the telecon.
    • PROPOSED: We will pass resolutions during the telecon on any of the issues raised in Axel's email on which we will have a consensus.

    • RESOLVED: Publish rif-rdf-owl (aka SWC) as WD.

    • RESOLVED: Close ISSUE-16, it is addressed (as far as Phase 1) in FLD and BLD through the external call mechanism
    • RESOLVED: Postpone ISSUE-17, ISSUE-18, ISSUE-19 and ISSUE-20. They are not covered by Phase I of RIF.
    • RESOLVED: Close ISSUE-21 - unclear what it means and most likely subsumed by ISSUE-38.
    • RESOLVED: Remove ISSUE-26 from critical path (of BLD 1.0).

Group Membership and Joining

The group holds telecons weekly and has 2-4 face-to-face meetings each year. See Meetings.


If you want to be involved without joining the Working Group, you are encouraged to review and comment on the Working Drafts as they become available. Feedback from people actually implementing the specifications is especially valuable.
