W3C Incubator Activity

Incubator Activity > W3C Semantic Sensor Network Incubator Group

This XG started on 4 March 2009 and closed on 28 June 2011. See the Final Report.

The mission of the Semantic Sensor Network Incubator Group, part of the Incubator Activity, is to begin the formal process of producing ontologies that define the capabilities of sensors and sensor networks, and to develop semantic annotations of a key language used by services based sensor networks.

See the charter for more information.

Deliverables

The SSN-XG will maintain a wiki with relevant information such as a review of relevant ontologies (and application to sensor systems, if any) and research projects that have an interest in semantic sensor networks. Please see that wik for updated information on deliverables.

Meetings

Meetings are held weekly via the W3C Zakim Telephone Conference Bridge.

While we are working on the public mailing list, it does not mean that non-W3C Members and those who are not Invited experts can attend phone conferences as observers. The
proceedings are public so that non-W3C members can understand the work that is being done, not so that they may join in and use W3C resources, which are member benefits.

There are simple logistic reasons for this as well, namely the phone conference has been booked for a number W3C attendees and should non-W3C attendees attend as well we will exceed the number of participants.
