This is an XML namespace reserved for use with the Pronunciation Lexicon specification.

The Pronunciation Lexicon is designed to provide allow interoperable specification of pronunciation information for either speech recognition and speech synthesis engines within voice browsing applications. The language is intended to be easy to use by developers whilst supporting the accurate specification of pronunciation information for international use.
