1. Introduction

The Web Services Addressing 1.0 draft (Core, SOAP Binding and WSDL Binding) define XML vocabularies in various namespaces. Those namespaces are usually of the form http://www.w3.org/{YYYY}/{MM}/{ns}, where {YYYY} is the year of publication of a draft, {MM} the month, and {ns} a sequence of characters.

This document defines the policy for changing a namespace IRI from one draft to another.

Drafts governed by this policy SHOULD refer to a dated version of this namespace policy.

2. Policy

This section defines the policy that the Web Services Addressing Working Group intends to use for defining namespace IRIs in the drafts it releases.

This policy applies to the following document on the W3C Recommendation track:

2.1 Publication of technical reports before Candidate Recommendation

Until a document reaches the maturity level of Candidate Recommendation, the namespace IRIs defined in a specification will be updated in each new draft published.

2.2 Publication of technical reports after Candidate Recommendation

After a document has been published as a Candidate Recommendation, the namespace IRIs will be updated only if changes are made to the document are not significant and do not impact the implementation of the specification.

The Working Group will assess, when publishing subsequent versions of the document on the Recommendation track (Proposed Recommendation and W3C Recommendation), the suitability of retaining the namespace IRIs defined in the previous version of the document.
