Current Status

TAG has strong preference for a single approach to Linking in XML - better interoperability.

XLink, as is, remains unacceptable to HTML-WG - but it is currently the W3C recommendation for XML Linking.

Some apparent willingness to revise XLink to better address the needs of the HTML-WG:
- Enhance XLink: infer xlink:type" from Tim Bray.
- "XLink+HLink is one story not two" from Steven Pemberton
Also... some mention of XML Schema based approach.

Other discussions: W3C Team, XML-CG, HTML-WG, Public....

The issue remains open.
