SUMMARY:LinkID – Toward a Persistent Identifier Standard for Hyperlinks
DTSTART;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251110T170000
DTEND;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251110T180000
DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/ef18fde3-f3f0-498a-addf-d47f
33716014/\n\nBroken links threaten the long-term integrity and trustworthi
ness of the Web. \nThe [Link Genetic initiative](https://github.com/Link-G
 enetic-GmbH/lid/) introduces “LinkID”\, a persistent\, bidirectional i
dentifier scheme designed to ensure link resilience\, metadata preservatio
n\, and semantic interoperability across domains and over time.\n\nThis se
ssion invites W3C members to discuss the feasibility of a new `linkid:` UR
 I scheme\, alignment with existing identifier systems (DOI\, ARK\, UUID)\,
and next steps toward standardisation.\n\nWe plan to:\n\n- Identify poten
tial Working Groups or Community Groups interested in hosting a LinkID pro
posal. \n- Discuss governance\, persistence\, and interoperability model
s for resilient linking. \n- Outline a roadmap for open-source reference
implementation and metadata framework.\n\n**Goal(s):**\n- Introduce LinkI
 D as a general-purpose persistent identifier for hyperlinks. \n- Present a
 rchitecture\, components\, privacy & interoperability model. \n- Validate
the need for a W3C Community Group. \n- Collect feedback from browser vend
 ors\, archives\, PID ecosystem and W3C participants.\n\nAgenda\n\n- Welcom
e & logistics (remote chair + in-room support) \n- Link decay problem (mo
tivation) \n- Challenges of link fragility \n- What is LinkID \n- Archi
tecture components \n- Security & privacy \n- Interoperability with DOI/
 ARK/UUID/archives \n- Why W3C & standardization path \n- Open discussion
   \n- Next steps & follow-up channels\n\n**Materials:** \n- [Slides](https
