SUMMARY:Supporting window transparency - challenges and opportunities
DTSTART;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251112T173000

DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/ef0186e0-8242-402f-bafe-4071
136ad188/\n\nIn this session we would like to spend time to have an open c
onversation about the complexities and opportunities for allowing window t
ransparency for web content (in both browsers and web renderers more gener
ally). The web is the most versatile UI framework of all time\, but is cu
rrently walled within a set of rectangles. The possibilities when breakin
g out of this are endless (especially as we move to new computing platform
s)\, but there are real and critical challenges that must be addressed. W
e hope this session can help start to collate a cohesive list of these con
siderations\, as well as start to work towards a set of guidelines that ca
n help guide future approaches for browser developers.\n\n**Goal(s):**\nMa
ke progress towards supporting transparent windows for web content\n\nAgen
da\n\nSession goals:\n- Understand the opportunities presented by transpar
ent web content windows\, in Browsers\, PWAs and embedded renders (webview
s)\n- Establish a set of challenges that need to be addressed for transpar
ent windows to work (security\, usability\, interaction\, programming APIs
 \, performance)\n- Work towards a framework of recommendations\, considera
tions and approaches for builders of these systems to support such content
