DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/ebda7af1-1b21-43e1-977d-faa4
6283dc70/\n\nAt TPAC 2025\, we [introduced the Hyper-Layering Architecture
  (HLA)](https://svgmap.org/movie/TPAC2025/index_HLA_breakout.html) as a We
 b-native approach to spatial integration. Since then\, a [Hyper-Layering A
 rchitecture Draft Community Report](https://svgmap.org/movie/TPAC2025/Hype
rLayeringArchitectureCommunityReport.html) has been published\, and relate
d discussions are continuing within the [Maps for HTML Community Group](ht
tps://www.w3.org/groups/cg/maps4html/).\n\nThis session shifts the focus f
rom architectural discussion to **practical progress**.\n\n[SVGMap](https:
 //svgmap.org/movie/TPAC2025/index_HLA_breakout.html) and its reference imp
 lementation (SVGMap.js) provide a lightweight\, client-side foundation ref
lecting HLA principles. Recent momentum has centered on the growing ecosys
tem of **ready-to-use layers** collected in [svgmapAppLayers](https://gith
 ub.com/svgmap/svgmapAppLayers)\, along with practical [tutorials](https://
github.com/svgmap/tutorials).\n\nWe refer to this model as *Layers as WebA
pps (LaWA)* — treating each map layer as an independent Web application
that can be combined directly in the browser.\n\nThis session will be an i
nformal\, interactive meetup focused on demos\, international community up
dates\, and sharing real-world layers that are ready to use today.\n\nThe
session will be conducted primarily in English\, with Japanese support if
needed (slides can include bilingual elements)\n\n##### Format\nInformal m
 eetup style:\n- Short intro & updates (10–15 min)\n- Lightning talks / p
articipant shares (15–20 min)\n- Open discussion\, live demos\, and idea
jam (rest of time)\n- Tools: Browser (SVGMap demo pages)\, IRC/Zoom chat
for links & questions\n- Real-time scribing on IRC (W3C bots will handle m
inutes)\n- If recording the session\, consent will be sought at the start\
n\n##### Why at Breakouts Day?\n- Strong alignment with Web geospatial int
erests (SVG WG\, Spatio-temporal Data on the Web CG/IG topics)\n- Focus on
practical\, open\, client-side tools that anyone can try instantly\n- Opp
ortunity to grow an international community around ready-to-use map layers
\n- Encourage cross-pollination: "If you have geospatial data\, let's make
  it a LaWA layer!"\n\n##### Related Links\n- tutorials: https://github.com

oking forward to your thoughts\, emoji reactions :+1:\, or "I'd like to jo
in/share my layer!" comments!\n\n**Goal(s):**\nShare practical progress on
HLA and SVGMap since TPAC 2025 and gather community feedback.\n\nAgenda\n
 \n- **[svgmapAppLayers](https://github.com/svgmap/svgmapAppLayers) Highlig
hts** (LaWA concept demo)\n - Philosophy: Framework is the engine\; Layer
s are the real content (246+ layers across 13 categories)\n - Japanese ex
pansions: JMA weather radar\, MLIT hazard/flood maps\, river CCTV\, evacua
 tion sites\, medical POI\, seismic data\, etc.\n - [Canadian svgMapAppLay
 ers](https://github.com/svgmap/canadianSvgmapAppLayers/) kickoff (early in
ternational content efforts)\n - Global integrations: NASA FIRMS fires\,
 NOAA nowCOAST\, yr.no weather tiles\, Sentinel-2\, USGS earthquakes\, OSM
basemaps\, etc.\n - Lightning round: Participants share their own recent
layer additions / tweaks (bring your permalink!)\n\n- **[Tutorial](https:/
 /github.com/svgmap/tutorials) Internationalization Progress**\n - Making
tutorials "immediately usable" guides (layer creation\, CSV/GeoJSON import
\, dynamic tiles\, etc.)\n - English + Japanese (and plans for more langu
ages) to lower barriers for global users\n - Feedback wanted: What tutori
 al gaps exist for newcomers?\n\n- **Live Demos & Interactive Part**\n - B
rowser-only demos: Load layers via permalink\, overlay data\, play with fi
lters/time animation\n - Community sharing: "What data would you like to
layer next?" or "I made this layer — here's the link!"\n - Q&A and brai
 nstorming for future layers / improvements\n\n**Materials:**\n- [slides](h
 ttps://svgmap.github.io/presentations/breakouts-day-2026-W3C/)\n- [Session
  proposal on GitHub](https://github.com/w3c/breakouts-day-2026/issues/5)
