DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/cff6ac42-bdc2-4a38-8993-7dd4
6e507741/20230925T120000/\n\nThis group is developing a draft proposal for
  a W3C AT Driver Specification.\n\nGitHub repository: https://github.com/w
3c/aria-at-automation\n\nAgenda\n\n## Update on lessons learned from TPAC
 2023\n\nAt [this year's TPAC](https://www.w3.org/2023/09/TPAC/)\, we learn
ed a lot about the needs of implementers and standards editors. This has i
nspired changes to various aspects of ARIA-AT\, ARIA-AT automation\, and [
the AT Driver protocol](https://w3c.github.io/at-driver/)\, so we'll kick
off this meeting with a run-down of the most important lessons.\n\n## Scop
e of AT Driver: is this now a protocol solely for the web?\n\nFollowing di
scussions at TPAC 2023\, we expect the AT Driver protocol to be limited to
use in web browsing contexts only. As we begin to reflect this in the pro
posed specification language\, we'd like to consider if there are any mean
ingful precautions we can take to enable expansion beyond the web in the f
uture.\n\n## Running ARIA-AT with a protocol built on "user intent"\n\nFol
lowing discussions at TPAC 2023\, we expect to reimagine the way the AT Dr
iver protocol enables the scripting of end-user interactions. Rather than
allowing developers to simulate arbitrary sequences of keyboard key presse
s\, AT Driver will define a set of contextual actions (e.g. "move to the n
ext heading")\, and we will publish a separate informative document defini
ng key mappings for some assistive technology products.\n\nWhat does this
mean for ARIA-AT\, a project which defines tests in terms of specific sequ
 ences of keyboard key presses?
