e4074b8c/\n\nAt the W3C’s Advisory Committee meeting in Hiroshima\, Japa
n\, last year\, Mitsuo Ochi\, the president of Hiroshima University\, [cha
 llenged W3C](https://www.w3.org/2024/04/AC/talk/welcome-mitsuo-ochi.html#t
alk) to “take proactive actions towards realizing a peaceful future.”
\n\nTim Engelhardt from the UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Ri
ghts\, while acknowledging the reference to human rights in the Ethical We
 b Principles\, likewise [challenged W3C](https://www.w3.org/2024/04/AC/tal
k/human-rights#talk) to put people and their rights at the center of proce
sses\, saying “standard setting organizations and their participants\, s
hould commit to the application of human rights\, using human rights metho
dologies”.\n\nMore recently\, the UN OHCHR has run a series of workshops
involving standards bodies\, one of which I did a write-up of here: https

 rt__Advancing_Human_Rights-Aligned_Standard-Setting.pdf. \n\nWe have also
discussed this topic in the Advisory Board.\n\n**Goal(s):**\nhave an open
 discussion\n\nAgenda\n\n**Materials:**\n- [Session proposal on GitHub](htt
