SUMMARY:Cryptography Usage Guideline in Web Standards
DTSTART;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251112T161500

DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/a556e2f0-107a-43a7-bd11-dd75
d8dbe953/\n\nSeveral Web standards rely on cryptographic algorithms to ens
ure security and privacy properties.\nHowever\, choosing the right algorit
hm and configuring it correctly is often challenging for developers who ar
e not cryptography experts. The number of available algorithms\, evolving
standards\, and frequent deprecations make it difficult to identify secure
and interoperable solutions.\n\nSING Interest Group proposes a session on
the use of cryptography to present an ongoing draft addressing this topic
.\nThis draft document aims to provide a clear and practical overview of s
tandardized cryptographic algorithms and their recommended usage in variou
s contexts. It offers guidelines on when and how to use specific algorithm
s\, parameter choices\, and common pitfalls to avoid — promoting a consi
stent\, standards-based\, and secure use of cryptography across web techno
logies.\n\nYou can find the most recent editor's draft at [https://w3c.gi
 thub.io/security-guidelines-cryptography/](https://w3c.github.io/security-
guidelines-cryptography//).\n\nThe purpose of this session is to present t
he current version of the document and discuss its content\, by collecting
feedback from participants and discussing some open points that require f
urther analysis or decisions.\n\n**Goal(s):**\nCollect feedback on the dra
ft document and discuss open points\n\nAgenda\n\n**Materials:**\n- [Sessio
