SUMMARY:Structuring Design Choices with an Interactive Decision Tool
DTSTART;TZID=Etc/UTC:20260326T210000
DTEND;TZID=Etc/UTC:20260326T220000
DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/1e6bed05-a623-4913-9daf-5b19
3ba513c5/\n\nThis breakout will demonstrate an [interactive tool](https://
bldl.github.io/specalt-web/) for exploring decision spaces and making trad
e-offs between design alternatives visible. The tool lets users map interc
onnected choices and highlight issues as decisions evolve\, and suggests [
 optimal design](https://dl.acm.org/doi/epdf/10.1145/3732771.3742715) combi
nations based on defined priorities. We'll walk through how the tool works
using a standards example (originally tried for one of the TC39 proposals
). We'll discuss how the tool could potentially help W3C groups compare op
tions\, structure discussions\, and move complex proposals forward with mo
re clarity. The session focuses on hands-on demonstration and open discuss
ion around practical use in W3C work.\n\n**Goal(s):**\nDemonstrate an inte
ractive decision-support tool and explore whether it could help W3C groups
structure discussions and compare design alternatives.\n\nAgenda\n\n1. We
lcome and introduction.\n2. Motivation: structuring decision-making when d
 esigning language features.\n3. [Tool](https://bldl.github.io/specalt-web/
 ) demo\n	- a realistic example: specifying the design space of the TC39 _R
 ecords & Tuples_ (withdrawn) proposal\n	- a fictional example: a CSS featu
 re\n4. Automatically finding optimal design.\n5. Open discussion.\n\n**Mat
