SUMMARY:Introducing an HTML <amount> Element
DTSTART;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251112T161500
DTEND;TZID=Asia/Tokyo:20251112T171500
DESCRIPTION:https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/126c9a01-9cbb-47d2-a5c9-7cc1
7dde0b58/\n\nUsers from around the world often see numerical amounts on we
b pages either in unfamiliar units\, or with unfamiliar punctuation denoti
ng large or decimal amounts which can be hard to interpret\, or worse\, ea
sily misinterpreted. If publishers had a mechanism to explicitly denote th
ese numerical amounts and their units if any\, then browsers could offer a
privacy-respecting user-interface to display these amounts to the user ac
cording to their local units and punctuation preferences.\n\nBackground re
ading:\n- Mozilla has written up an [Amount element explainer](https://git
hub.com/mozilla/explainers/blob/main/amount.md) with further details for c
onsideration.\n- There is also a separate but related [TC39 Amount object
 proposal](https://github.com/tc39/proposal-amount) working on similar use-
cases.\n- Firefox shipped an [address bar unit conversion UI](https://blog
 .nightly.mozilla.org/2025/06/18/absolute-unit-of-an-update-these-weeks-in-
 firefox-issue-183/) recently.\n\n**Goal(s):**\nDiscussion and consideratio
n of the use-cases and shape of what an `<amount>` element could look like
\, how it could work\, and how its capabilities can and should be balanced
  with privacy considerations.\n\nAgenda\n\n**Materials:**\n- [Session prop
