{"id":9761,"date":"2026-06-07T16:00:18","date_gmt":"2026-06-07T16:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blog\/2026\/06\/07\/proposed-group-utxo-web-wallet-interoperability-community-group\/"},"modified":"2026-06-07T16:00:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T16:00:18","slug":"proposed-group-utxo-web-wallet-interoperability-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blog\/2026\/06\/07\/proposed-group-utxo-web-wallet-interoperability-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed Group: UTXO Web Wallet Interoperability Community Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The UTXO Web Wallet Interoperability Community Group has been proposed by yidan Zhu:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n<p>There are important use cases for self-sovereign identity in the emerging digital wallet ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n<p>This group&#8217;s mission is to enable wallets to integrate the UTXODNS protocol (developed within the IETF) for self-sovereign identity, payment addressing, and verifiable credential presentation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The group will publish Specifications that allow wallets to:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Resolve .utxo domain names to multi\u2011chain blockchain endpoint identifiers, supporting networks such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and any other blockchain that uses public key hashes or account\u2011based addresses.<\/li>\n<li>Perform self\u2011sovereign authentication (sign a challenge using a private key bound to a .utxo domain, without any third\u2011party identity provider).<\/li>\n<li>Construct and sign payments addressed to a .utxo domain on any supported chain, including stablecoins such as USDC, USDT, and Hong Kong regulated stablecoins.<\/li>\n<li>Present verifiable credentials such as GLEIF vLEI (real\u2011time status, selective disclosure).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The group also expects to develop a reference implementation. Native browser APIs may be considered in a future phase once wallet adoption is widespread.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n<p>\n    You are invited to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/groups\/proposed\/#uw2i\">support the creation of this group<\/a>.\n    Once the group has a total of 5 supporters, it will be launched and people can join to begin work.
