{"id":9737,"date":"2026-05-18T12:42:33","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T12:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blog\/2026\/05\/18\/proposed-group-ai-agent-memory-interoperability-community-group-community-group\/"},"modified":"2026-05-18T12:42:33","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T12:42:33","slug":"proposed-group-ai-agent-memory-interoperability-community-group-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blog\/2026\/05\/18\/proposed-group-ai-agent-memory-interoperability-community-group-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed Group: AI Agent Memory Interoperability Community Group Community Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The AI Agent Memory Interoperability Community Group Community Group has been proposed by Russell Jackson:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n<p>The AI Agent Memory Interoperability Community Group exists to develop, evolve, and document an open protocol-level specification for AI agent memory that is portable across vendors, models, agent frameworks, and tool ecosystems.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Group&#8217;s scope covers:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Memory cell shape (encrypted unit with canonical metadata).<\/li>\n<li>Identity binding (post-quantum signature schemes, with ML-DSA-65 \/ NIST FIPS-204 as the primary reference).<\/li>\n<li>Encryption envelope semantics (per-cell DEK; wallet-derived KEK; rotation versioning).<\/li>\n<li>Audit anchor properties (public-chain receipts; verifiability without trusting the operator).<\/li>\n<li>Sharing contracts (temporary, permanent, syndicate; revocation semantics).<\/li>\n<li>Cryptographic erasure (DEK destruction + tombstone + content-address blacklist) aligned with GDPR Article 17.<\/li>\n<li>Crosswalks to leading regulatory frameworks (NIST AI RMF 1.0, ISO\/IEC 42001:2023, ISO\/IEC 27001:2022, EU AI Act 2024\/1689) and protocol ecosystems (MCP, AAIF).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Out of scope:<\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li>Specific blockchain selection (the protocol is chain-agnostic).<\/li>\n<li>Vector-database semantics (orthogonal).<\/li>\n<li>Agent runtime semantics (covered by other forums, e.g., AAIF goose project, custom frameworks).<\/li>\n<li>Tool-routing semantics (covered by MCP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>This group may publish Specifications.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n<p>\n    You are invited to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/groups\/proposed\/#ai-agent-memory-interop\">support the creation of this group<\/a>.\n    Once the group has a total of 5 supporters, it will be launched and people can join to begin work.
