{"id":2721,"date":"2013-03-20T10:54:58","date_gmt":"2013-03-20T10:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/?p=2721"},"modified":"2013-03-20T10:54:58","modified_gmt":"2013-03-20T10:54:58","slug":"proposed-group-open-linked-education-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/blog\/2013\/03\/20\/proposed-group-open-linked-education-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed Group: Open Linked Education Community Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Open Linked Education Community Group has been proposed by Madi Solomon:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Pearson initiates this community group proposal with the W3C with the goal of facilitating and creating a curated subset of Wikipedia data that can be used for tagging educational content. <\/p>\n<p>Goals:<br \/>\n\u2022\tBuild a SUBJECT database from a curated subset of Wikipedia (DBpedia) that can be used by institutions, instructors, and students, to tag educational resources. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tCreate a website presence similar to OpenCorporates (http:\/\/opencorporates.com\/) with API\u2019s for reconciling with Google Refine.  Provide tutorials on how to use Google Refine to access the datasets.  Make access to the data easy.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tBuild relations and bridges to at least 3 existing open linked datasets.   <\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tProvide SPARQL endpoints for data<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tPrepare and built out to 5-Star linked data (RDF\/XML\/JSON\/schema.org)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>You are invited to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/groups\/proposed#opened\">support the creation of this group<\/a>.
