{"id":3,"date":"2016-12-13T12:14:02","date_gmt":"2016-12-13T12:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/web-api-discovery\/?p=3"},"modified":"2016-12-13T12:14:02","modified_gmt":"2016-12-13T12:14:02","slug":"call-for-participation-in-webapi-discovery-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/web-api-discovery\/2016\/12\/13\/call-for-participation-in-webapi-discovery-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Participation in WebAPI Discovery Community Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"\/community\/web-api-discovery\/\">WebAPI Discovery Community Group<\/a> has been launched:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A group to develop a mechanism for the automatic discovery of WebAPIs, by<br \/>\nextending the schema.org vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p>Increasingly, large online platforms and services provide one or more Web<br \/>\nAPIs for third-party developers. Moreover, many companies build WebAPIs as<br \/>\ntheir primary product (Email API, SMS API, etc.). This has resulted in an<br \/>\nexplosion of the number of WebAPIs in recent years. Developers spend a<br \/>\nsignificant amount of time searching for suitable WebAPIs to meet their<br \/>\nneeds.<\/p>\n<p>Our intention is to work closely with Schema.org to define a<br \/>\nWebAPI-specific extension and promote usage of this extension among API<br \/>\nowners. In the long run, our aim is to contribute this extension into the<br \/>\ncore Schema.org vocabulary.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve these goals we are seeking feedback and collaboration from API<br \/>\nowners, DX specialists, API description language experts and maintainers of<br \/>\nvarious API catalogs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In order to <a href=\"\/community\/web-api-discovery\/join\">join the group<\/a>, you will need a <a href=\"\/accounts\/request\">W3C account<\/a>. Please note, however, that <a href=\"\/community\/about\/faq\/#is-w3c-membership-required-to-participate-in-a-community-or-business-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">W3C Membership<\/a> is not required to join a Community Group.<\/p>\n<p>This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2016-12-01 by Ivan Goncharov. The following people supported its creation: Ivan Goncharov, Mike Ralphson, Roman Hotsiy, Jesse van Dam, Mohamed ZERGAOUI.
