{"id":441,"date":"2013-10-01T11:03:30","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T15:03:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/socbizcg\/?page_id=441"},"modified":"2013-10-01T11:03:49","modified_gmt":"2013-10-01T15:03:49","slug":"draft-ig-charter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/socbizcg\/draft-ig-charter\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft IG Charter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Social Interest Group Charter<\/strong><br \/>\nThe mission of the Social Interest Group, part of the W3C Social Business Activity, is to accelerate the standardization strategy to make &#8220;social&#8221; a first-class citizen of the Web as recommended in the Workshop on Social Standards: The Future of Business, Including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preserving the wide range of participants representing a diverse set of interests at the Workshop<\/li>\n<li>Harvesting use cases, and find actionable requirements that can be used to drive social standards<\/li>\n<li>Be public to provide the widest possible participation, and work in coordination\/cooperation with other activities\/groups.<\/li>\n<li>Operate as a part of the W3C process, so that it has authority to influence related W3C activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>End date\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0?<br \/>\nConfidentiality\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Proceedings are public<br \/>\nInitial Chairs\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0J<br \/>\nInitial Team Contacts<br \/>\n(FTE %: 10)\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Harry Halpin &lt;hhalpin@w3.org&gt;<br \/>\nUsual Meeting Schedule\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Teleconferences: Monthly<br \/>\nFace-to-face: Once Annually<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Social Interest Group is a public forum for discussion of requirements of Social technologies that enable the development of competitive products and services.<br \/>\nThe forum is intended to include organisations that commission such products and services, designers, developers, equipment manufacturers, tool and platform vendors, browser vendors, operators and other relevant participants in the value chain that creates and operates such products and services.<br \/>\nIt is intended that the forum provides a focus for participants from a wide range of sectors including retail, advertising, technology, network operators, content creation and content distribution.<br \/>\nIt is intended that the forum focus on the enterprise spaces, but identify possible interoperability with the &#8220;consumer social space&#8221;<br \/>\nThe tasks the Interest Group will undertake include: non- standards and open soure related activities such as whitepaper development, use case harvesting, evangelism, etc<\/p>\n<p><strong>Success Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participation via mailing list subscription and postings from people representing various stakeholder communities, including developers, equipment manufacturers, browser vendors, operators and users;<\/li>\n<li>Members of the Interest Group join relevant Working Groups and drive the development of work items;<\/li>\n<li>Constructive feedback on W3C deliverables posted for review on the Social IG mailing list.<\/li>\n<li>Production of stable documents addressing the work items listed in the Deliverables section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Out of Scope<\/strong><br \/>\nThe technical development of standards is not in the scope of the Interest Group. Instead the Interest Group will recommend work items for other groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deliverables<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Standards for Social: current state and roadmap &#8211; Block Architecture<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This document takes a broader look at all the Social technologies under development and tracks their status and adoption<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Busines Architecture (Workshop report recommendation)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TBD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use cases and scenarios for context-relevant user experiences<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This report will document the use cases and scenarios of usage of Social technologies in a way that is responsive to the user\u2019s context, including her location, her activities, her connected devices, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Timeline View Summary<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 2014: First teleconference<br \/>\ntbd<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dependencies and Liaisons<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>W3C Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>W3C Community and Business Groups<br \/>\nThe Social Interest Group will watch for and coordinate with Community Groups whose work are likely to have an impact on the usage of Social technologiess.<br \/>\n<strong>External Groups<\/strong><br \/>\nOMA<br \/>\nThe Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) develops technologies targeted at mobile devices that may have a direct relevance to the deployment of some Web technologies on mobile.<br \/>\nIETF<br \/>\nThe Internet Engineering Task Force develops the protocols that clients use to connect to the Web; ensuring these protocols match the needs of mobile devices and networks is an important part of achieving the group&#8217;s mission<br \/>\ntbd<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participation<\/strong><br \/>\nParticipation is open to the public (W3C members and non-members). Effective participation in the Social Interest Group is expected to consume ? for each participant.<br \/>\nIn order to make rapid progress, the group MAY form several task forces, each working on a separate topic. The group members may participate in one or more task forces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communication<\/strong><br \/>\nThis group conducts its substantive work exclusively on the public mailing list public-web-mobile@w3.org and encourages non-member contributions on that list. Administrative tasks may be conducted in Member-only communications. Task forces may use separate public mailing lists to conduct their work.<br \/>\nInformation about the group (deliverables, participants, face-to-face meetings, teleconferences, etc.) is available from the Web and Mobile Interest Group home page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Decision Policy<\/strong><br \/>\nConsistent with its mission, this group is not a decision-making body, but rather provides a forum for discussion and advice on different topics relating to its scope.<br \/>\nWhere there is consensus among the representatives of W3C members in the group, it will be forwarded as a consensus position. Where the group does not reach agreement, the different positions (whether held by W3C members or other members of the group) will be forwarded together, with any decisions to be made by a relevant working group according to its processes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patent Disclosures<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Web and Mobile Interest Group provides an opportunity to share perspectives on the topic addressed by this charter. W3C reminds Interest Group participants of their obligation to comply with patent disclosure obligations as set out in Section 6 of the W3C Patent Policy. While the Interest Group does not produce Recommendation-track documents, when Interest Group participants review Recommendation-track specifications from Working Groups, the patent disclosure obligations do apply.<br \/>\nFor more information about disclosure obligations for this group, please see the W3C Patent Policy Implementation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About this Charter<\/strong><br \/>\nThis charter for the Social Interest Group has been created according to section 6.2 of the Process Document.
