{"id":361,"date":"2015-01-01T10:47:56","date_gmt":"2015-01-01T10:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/?p=361"},"modified":"2015-01-01T10:47:56","modified_gmt":"2015-01-01T10:47:56","slug":"read-write-web-q4-summary-2014-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/2015\/01\/01\/read-write-web-q4-summary-2014-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Read Write Web \u2014 Q4 Summary \u2014 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Summary<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The web ponders moving further towards SSL, with the W3C TAG publishing a <a href=\"https:\/\/w3ctag.github.io\/web-https\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">draft finding<\/a> on how this could be more easily achieved.\u00a0 There was a great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eff.org\/deeplinks\/2014\/12\/2014-web-encryption-roundup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">review<\/a> by the EFF on progress, as well as some interesting suggestions by <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-tag\/2014Dec\/0140.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">timbl<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Linked data continues it&#8217;s inexorable march towards the mainstream with steady progress throughout the quarter and whole year.\u00a0 Some good reviews are available <a href=\"http:\/\/amitsheth.blogspot.cz\/2014\/12\/data-semantics-and-semantic-web-2014.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/semanticweb.com\/2014-year-review-thanks-good-times-part-1_b45401\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/semanticweb.com\/2014-year-review-thanks-good-times-part-2_b45404\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 With a look forward to what we may see in <a href=\"http:\/\/semanticweb.com\/2015-envisioning-year-ahead-part-1_b45406\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">2015<\/a>.\u00a0 A cool ontology viewer called <a href=\"http:\/\/vowl.visualdataweb.org\/webvowl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">VOWL<\/a> also caught the eye.<\/p>\n<p>There were some more discussion regarding the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2012\/ldp\/wiki\/LDP_PATCH_Proposals\">HTTP PATCH<\/a> verb and how it applies to data, with specs and implementations reaching readiness.\u00a0 A comprehensive wishlist covering much of the future of LDP and RWW was <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-ldp-wg\/2014Nov\/0010.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">posted<\/a> by Sandro, as well as a new authentication system, called <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2014Nov\/0004.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">SPOT<\/a> (Simple Page-Owner Token).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/images\/f\/fe\/Rww-logo-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Communications and Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Henry Story delivered an outstanding <a href=\"https:\/\/skillsmatter.com\/skillscasts\/5960-building-a-secure-distributed-social-web-using-scala-scala-js#video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">presentation<\/a> at Scala eXchange conference in London, where he outlined the current state of play of the read write web and decentralized social web.\u00a0 An <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/read-write-web\/wiki\/wiki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">overview<\/a> of the project is available on github, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/read-write-web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">source code<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some conversations took place in the identity credentials group and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/openbadges\/openbadges-specification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">open badges<\/a>\u00a0 which aims to allow writing of achievements, via badges, on servers, in images and data structures, and using digital signatures.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Community Group<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The LDP Patch <a href=\"https:\/\/dvcs.w3.org\/hg\/ldpwg\/raw-file\/ldpatch\/ldpatch.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">specification<\/a> is now reaching readiness and I believe the integration into <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/linkeddata\/gold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">GOLD<\/a> is going to happen as we speak.
