Summary<\/span><\/h2>\n

The schedule for ISWC 2014 in Trentino, Italy has been announced.\u00a0 A packed program <\/a>was under way with a seemingly increasing number of mature demos<\/a>.\u00a0 MIT \/ DIG will present an excellent paper, entitled, “CIMBA – Client-Integrated MicroBlogging Architecture<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

A massive amount of work has come together under the EU funded, LOD2 banner, which has now been renamed to Linked Data Stack.\u00a0 Far too much to pack into one blog post, but an excellent overview is available under Open Access, called, “Linked Open Data — Creating Knowledge Out of Interlinked Data<\/a>“.\u00a0 Congrats to everyone involved!<\/p>\n

“Linked Data Platform Best Practices and Guidelines<\/a>” has been published as a note, and looks like a great guide for how to get the most out of reading and writing data on the web.\u00a0 Additionally, the “Data Shapes<\/a>” WG has got under way which aims to provide for web data what XML Schema provided for XML.<\/p>\n

Communications and Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n

Our members continue to work closely with the Linked Data Platform Working Group<\/a>.\u00a0 There has been continued work on Access Control, Linked Data PATCH and more implementations.<\/p>\n

Personally, I have spent the last month reviewing and working with the bitmark<\/a> project.\u00a0 Which hopes to bring together the best ideas from REST, Linked Data and crypto currencies in order to bring reputation and transferable ratings to the web, in a way that can also federate existing walled gardens.\u00a0 Still only two months old, an impressive amount of work has been done with much more in the pipeline.\u00a0 An update on this work is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Community Group<\/span><\/h3>\n

A relatively quiet quarter in the community group, but still averaging about one post a day.\u00a0 Interop tests have got under way between CIMBA and Virtuoso<\/a>.\u00a0 Results are documented<\/a> here, hopefully many more to follow!<\/p>\n

The Web Credentials Community Group<\/a> has got under way and is another effort to standardize identity, access control, personae etc.\u00a0 Hopefully work will align to produce interoperable solutions.<\/p>\n

Applications<\/span><\/h3>\n

A free software linked data file manager, named WARP<\/a>, has been released, with demo available here<\/a>.\u00a0 Additionally a very fast Linked Data Platform application has been written in the Go language (GOLD) and is available<\/a>\u00a0on Github or via a docker image<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A great post how the popular CMS system Drupal, is “Deepening its Semantic Web Ties<\/a>“, including comments from Community Group member, St\u00e9phane Corlosquet.\u00a0 Drupal powers over 5 million web properties, so is a great vehicle for proliferation of content management, using read and write web standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
