href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/wiki\/Open_Web_Platform\">Open Web Platform<\/a> got a boost this month as Mozilla announced they are expanding their app store.\u00a0 The aim is to make HTML5 apps (based on HTML + JavaScript) first class citizens of the web.\u00a0 In their <a href=\"https:\/\/hacks.mozilla.org\/2013\/10\/progress-report-on-cross-platform-open-web-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">progress report<\/a> they have demonstrated support for Android, Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux devices, in addition to regular browsers.<\/p>\n<p>ISWC kicked off in Sydney Australia, which marked a meeting of the top minds in Linked Data.\u00a0 One interesting paper that was noted as relevant to the Read Web, talks about the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/sabrinakirrane.com\/publications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Secure Manipulation of Linked Data<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The Read Write Web Group has begun to incubate some specs on the broad topic of reading and writng, as well as access control.\u00a0 More on this below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/images\/f\/fe\/Rww-logo-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Communications and Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I was kindly invited to spend two days at the <a href=\"http:\/\/lod2.eu\/BlogPost\/1795-lod2-project-meets-in-prague-to-prepare-for-its-last-year.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lod2 plenary<\/a>.\u00a0 Many thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/keg.vse.cz\/person\/jindrich-mynarz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jind\u0159ich Mynarz<\/a> for organizing a fantastic event.\u00a0 I met with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informatik.uni-leipzig.de\/~auer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">S\u00f6ren Auer<\/a> and many of the team working on lod2.\u00a0 There is a a lot of impressive work coming out of this project.\u00a0 You can check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/stack.lod2.eu\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">individual components<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/stack.lod2.eu\/blog\/?page_id=14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">download<\/a> the whole lod2 stack.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve spoken to two social projects this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/n-1.cc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lorea<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/gnu.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">gnu.io<\/a> (previously the status.net code base).\u00a0 Both are interested in federating linked profiles for reading and writing.\u00a0 The Linked Data Platform has also updated their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/ldp-ucr\/\">Use Case and Requirements document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Community Group<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aksw.org\/ClausStadler.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Claus Stadler<\/a>, from the team at Uni Leipzig has joined our group and demoed some impressive work on javascript based visualizations of Linked Data.\u00a0 More on this soon!<\/p>\n<p>Work has continued towards creating a draft <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/Draft_Spec\">spec<\/a> that describes what we&#8217;ve learnt so far in this ans other Community Group.\u00a0 Also there has been some <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Oct\/0017.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">interest<\/a> in an official Spec for Access Control on the Web.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/10\/youid.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-323\" 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Applications<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>An EU funded consortium have announced a linked data based social network, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dime-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">digital me<\/a>, which is now ready for the first sign up.<\/p>\n<p>Some great work from OpenLink as they have <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Oct\/0014.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">released<\/a> a new version of <a href=\"http:\/\/youid.openlinksw.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">YouID<\/a>, an identity provider that allows you to take control of your existing social profile on the web.\u00a0 I put together I simple &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Oct\/0013.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hello World<\/a>&#8221; app, which shows how to read and write linked data via HTTP PUT, PATCH and SPARQL Update.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/10\/ktools_logo_no_bg.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-324\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/10\/ktools_logo_no_bg-300x89.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"89\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/10\/ktools_logo_no_bg-300x89.png 300w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/10\/ktools_logo_no_bg.png 574w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Last but not least\u2026<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Kingsley spotted an interesting app, &#8220;Fred&#8221;, which creates linked data vocabularies from <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/edHh2N0N9e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">simple sentences<\/a>.\u00a0 It also has a <a href=\"http:\/\/t.co\/0AqMmBI2BA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">graphical representation<\/a> and a <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/HsEP52\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">turtle serialization<\/a> of the
