Write Web \u2014 Monthly Open Thread \u2014 (July 2013)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Summary<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Further privacy issues emerged, this month, across the internet, as the extent to which data is monitored has encompassed more than was previously reported.\u00a0 The web has been awash with concerns, including reports that even <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-13578_3-57595529-38\/feds-tell-web-firms-to-turn-over-user-account-passwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">passwords can at times be requested<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/schema.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Schema.org<\/a> have added new Linked Data features, in the form of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/wiki\/WebSchemas\/sameAs\">sameAs<\/a> aliasing, and a draft for a new set of <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-vocabs\/2013Jul\/0090.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">actions<\/a>.\u00a0 Two more drafts have reached last call, namely, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2013\/WD-rdf11-mt-20130723\/\">RDF Semantics<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2013\/WD-rdf11-concepts-20130723\/\">Concepts and Abstract Syntax<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2012\/ldp\/wiki\/Main_Page\">Linked Data Platform<\/a> 1.0 is now <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2013\/WD-ldp-20130730\/\">ready for last call<\/a>, with more implementations coming in.\u00a0 There was also an interesting <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1lofZv855H5D3JDSefpEiE3NBM30YBh2W4pkmAGvlLtM\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">comparison<\/a> presented between LDP and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/sparql11-http-rdf-update\/\">Graph Store Protocol<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/images\/f\/fe\/Rww-logo-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Communications and Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Preparations are under way for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2013\/socialweb\/\">workshop on the social web<\/a>, in San Francisco.\u00a0 An interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2013\/socialweb\/agenda.html\">program<\/a> has been discussed, with the possibility to go to a full working group if there is enough interest.<\/p>\n<p><a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Community Group<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There have been discussions with various groups including the OpenID Foundation, and Internet Identity Community about a proposed <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Jul\/0007.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">header<\/a>, to enable a user to be identified to a server.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Jul\/0012.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Some quite productive feedback ensued<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have added a couple of blog posts in the tabulator series.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/2013\/07\/19\/tabulator-creating-a-new-pane-part-1\/\">Part 1 shows<\/a> you how to create a brand new tabulator pane, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/2013\/07\/26\/tabulator-creating-a-new-pane-part-2\/\">part 2 shows<\/a> how to render a simple SIOC microblog post.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/07\/idno.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-293\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/07\/idno.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/07\/idno.png 200w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/07\/idno-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Applications<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Two new implementations of LDP are under way.\u00a0 One in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/turnguard\/com-turnguard-ldp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">java<\/a>, and another in <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/AKSW\/node_ldp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">node<\/a>.\u00a0 More great work from Andrei Sambra who has created an <a href=\"https:\/\/my-profile.eu\/api\/wall?start=5&amp;items=5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">API<\/a> for my-profile, and also is <a href=\"https:\/\/my-profile.eu\/video\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">experimenting<\/a> with WebRTC to enable real time chat and video.\u00a0 An interesting project from Ben Werdmuller of elgg fame, called <a href=\"http:\/\/idno.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">idno<\/a>, allows you make your personal page into a social read\/write experience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/07\/yasgui.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-294\"
