(2008), Google (2009), Facebook (2009), Paltalk (2009), YouTube (2010), AOL (2011), Skype (2011), and Apple were implicated, with many commentators concerned by the loss of privacy.<\/p>\n<p>Yahoo! continues its Linked Data adoption with the announcement the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/yahoo\/Glimmer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">open-source code<\/a> release and public demo of <a href=\"http:\/\/glimmer.research.yahoo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Glimmer<\/a>, a search engine for RDF data.\u00a0 Based on the Hadoop search engine technology, it allows querying of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webdatacommons.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">web data commons<\/a> knowledge base of over 750 million triples.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/indiewebcamp.com\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">IndieWeb<\/a>, a gathering of web creators, sharing technology to empower users to host their own user profile, had its <a href=\"http:\/\/indiewebcamp.com\/2013\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">annual gathering<\/a>, in Portland Oregon. \u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/webmention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Webmention<\/a> technology that we covered previously was tested in the wild.\u00a0 Also a an interesting new system, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onebigfluke.com\/2013\/06\/bootstrapping-webfinger-with-webfist.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">WebFist<\/a>, was launched which allows users to write mirrored claims based on their email address.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/images\/f\/fe\/Rww-logo-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Communications and Outreach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Unless you&#8217;ve been living under a rock, you&#8217;ll have heard of the recent rise to fame of bitcoin, the peer to peer crypto currency.\u00a0 Bitcoin has it&#8217;s own <a href=\"http:\/\/bitcoin-otc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">web of trust<\/a> for the OTC (over the counter) market.\u00a0 The founder (aka nanotube) has agreed to let us bootstrap their web pages with a trust based ontology.\u00a0 I made a short <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Jun\/0039.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">proposal<\/a> to help us develop along these lines.<\/p>\n<p>Mozilla mentioned that they are also in the process of created their <a href=\"http:\/\/openbadges.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">open badges<\/a> system, so perhaps a collaboration and shared concepts could be possible.<\/p>\n<p><a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Community Group<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>RWW welcomes Erik Mannens and Miel Vander Sande from iMinds Multimedia lab.\u00a0 Some of you may recall their recent work on <a href=\"http:\/\/events.linkeddata.org\/ldow2013\/papers\/ldow2013-paper-01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">R&amp;Wbase: git for triples<\/a>, presented at WWW 2013.\u00a0 The wiki updated with a section for newcomers including the newly minted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/ld-glossary\/\">Linked Data Glossary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandeep.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sandeep Shetty<\/a> has been leading the way with two new read\/write protocols in the space of two months.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/webmention.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">WebMention<\/a> has been gaining traction and was tested at indie web camp 2013.\u00a0 But also he has developed a system for <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-rww\/2013Jun\/0025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">federated &#8220;likes&#8221;<\/a>.\u00a0 Looking forward to testing this out with my web identity!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/06\/hawk.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-266\" #0000ff\">Applications<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Congratulations go to W3C stalwart, Sandro Hawke, a recipient of the Knight <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prototypefund.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Prototype Fund<\/a>, and will be developing a read write cloud storage application called\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crosscloud.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Crosscloud<\/a>.\u00a0 CrossCloud consists of a set of protocols and tools that allows providers to give individuals control of their data, choose who can access it and move it to other systems as needed.<\/p>\n<p>A new authentication protocol, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/hueniverse\/hawk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">hawk<\/a>, from the people that brought us OAuth promises to correct a few of the issues.\u00a0 It seems to work nicely with URIs as identifiers so perhaps can be a universal authentication system for the web.\u00a0 Finally, I put together a quick intro on how to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/2013\/06\/25\/installing-the-tabulator\/\">install tabulator in firefox<\/a>, more to come in this series next month, as I hope to give a demo of the social pane interacting with other networks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2013\/06\/hunger.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" around the world. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifpri.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">International Food Policy Research Institute<\/a> (IFPRI) are working toward data on every country around the world, data about malnutrition, child mortality rates, ecology, rainfall, and much more. \u00a0The raw, structured data is <a href=\"http:\/\/data.ifpri.org\/lod\/ghi.rdf\"
