{"id":132,"date":"2012-07-31T16:26:49","date_gmt":"2012-07-31T16:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/?p=132"},"modified":"2012-07-31T16:46:38","modified_gmt":"2012-07-31T16:46:38","slug":"read-write-web-monthly-open-thread-june-2012-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/2012\/07\/31\/read-write-web-monthly-open-thread-june-2012-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Read Write Web \u2014 Monthly Open Thread \u2014 (July 2012)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Summary<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Awesome scenes in July as one of our members opened the Olympic Games.\u00a0 Incredible to see millions of people around the globe paying credit to way the Web has changed everyone&#8217;s lives.<\/p>\n<p>Growing pains experienced in two important specs: HTML5 being forked into HTML5 \/ &#8220;HTML Living Standard&#8221; and the main editor of OAuth 2.0 resigning, shows the challenges involved with scaling out technologies to massive audience.<\/p>\n<p>The RWW CG experienced it&#8217;s busiest month to date, with many interesting discussions (more on that below).\u00a0 RWW is now probably one of the 3 busiest community group at the W3C, so a big thank you for everyone that has contributed to the conversations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/wiki\/images\/f\/fe\/Rww-logo-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Communications and Outreach<\/h3>\n<p>We are very happy to announce joining forces with PeerPoint, which is a blueprint for a vision of the web as a peer to peer space based on sovereign computing:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTo be the true owner of your information and of your computer&#8217;s hardware resources, as well as to share these things in any way you want and only with whomever you want. To participate in the Internet free of the middleman, as an autonomous, independent and sovereign individual.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We look forward to working on standards and apps to help achieve this vision.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/pub?id=1TkAUpUxdfKGr_5Qio2SlZcnBu_sgnZWdoVTZuD_Regs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/06\/rdf.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Community Group<\/h3>\n<p>Henry story has kindly agreed to organize an unofficial Face to Face meeting at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2012\/10\/TPAC\/\">TPAC<\/a> 2012 in Lyon, France.\u00a0 Perhaps a great chance to get some people together from various community groups and a chance to do some hacking.<\/p>\n<p>The mail list has experienced its biggest volume to date with around 200 messages.\u00a0 Welcome to new joiners, please feel free to join in discussions, start topics, write blogs posts or contribute to our wiki.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/dropbox-icon.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-133\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/dropbox-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Applications<\/h3>\n<p>Lots of pieces of the puzzle coming together this month with signed mail over WebID successfully achieved.\u00a0 Also it&#8217;s been possible to access user walls from the command line using simple scripts that will repost, for example, tweets from other services to MyProfile.<\/p>\n<p>Excellent work from OpenLink again, with SPARQL endpoints fully access controlled via WebID, demoed.\u00a0 A fantastic dropbox <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/112399767740508618350\/posts\/NFYLxAN5ANd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">integration<\/a> allows 5 star linked data to be published with an incredibly low barrier to entry.\u00a0 Perhaps worth pausing to <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/112399767740508618350\/posts\/HV8cz1YXq2t\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">consider<\/a> the implications of this.<\/p>\n<p>More discussions on delegation, as we are gearing up to link apps and social networks together in a way that is intuitive to users.\u00a0 Perhaps we are at the point where we can create an app store for the Web, and maybe even link in payments via payswarm.<\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/turtled.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-134\" src=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/turtled-300x108.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/turtled-300x108.png 300w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/rww\/files\/2012\/07\/turtled.png 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/h1>\n<h3>Last but not least&#8230;<\/h3>\n<p>Spotter&#8217;s badge goes to Brad Jones for finding yet another of michael hausenblas&#8217; awesome projects, <a title=\"turtled\" href=\"http:\/\/turtled.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Turtled<\/a> &#8211; a simple RDF Turtle visualisation tool (with SVG export) launched<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summary Awesome scenes in July as one of our members opened the Olympic Games.\u00a0 Incredible to see millions of people around the globe paying credit to way the Web has changed everyone&#8217;s lives.
