As some of you know, there&#8217;s already a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2010\/POI\/wiki\/Data_Model\" target=\"_blank\">conceptual model for POI data<\/a> started in the W3C. Although that work is now dormant, it is being carried on by the <a href=\"http:\/\/opengeospatial.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">OGC<\/a> in terms of standardizing the conceptual model and the XML encoding.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to use this group to work out a microdata format for points of interest data. I have an example posted here:<a href=\"http:\/\/openpois.ogcnetwork.net\/microdata\/2349e34d-929d-45ec-8a79-12625264b874.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/openpois.ogcnetwork.net\/microdata\/2349e34d-929d-45ec-8a79-12625264b874.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It looks pretty good in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/webmasters\/tools\/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2Fopenpois.ogcnetwork.net%2Fmicrodata%2F2349e34d-929d-45ec-8a79-12625264b874.html&amp;html=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Structured Data Testing Tool<\/a>. This basically uses the <a href=\"http:\/\/schema.org\/Place\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Place<\/a> object. I&#8217;d like to get even more semantics into it, but that&#8217;s the topic of another discussion. First, what do people this of this so far?<\/p>\n<p>p.s. <a href=\"http:\/\/openpois.ogcnetwork.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">OpenPOIs<\/a> has over 9 million POIs in it, which all are marked up this way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello group.
