{"id":3,"date":"2016-08-04T19:41:41","date_gmt":"2016-08-04T19:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/pdf-open-data\/?p=3"},"modified":"2017-04-07T20:46:23","modified_gmt":"2017-04-07T20:46:23","slug":"call-for-participation-in-pdf-and-open-data-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/pdf-open-data\/2016\/08\/04\/call-for-participation-in-pdf-and-open-data-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Participation in PDF and Open Data Community Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"\/community\/pdf-open-data\/\">PDF and Open Data Community Group<\/a> has been launched:<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>PDF has had a reputation of being bad for &#8216;open data&#8217;, but there are already features of PDF that can be used for storing and retrieving data associated with parts of a PDF file.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The group will work to improve the ability of publishers of PDF documents to include Data in those documents in a way that consumers of data can easily extract the data with readily available tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/pdf-open-data\/charter\/\">Charter<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In order to <a href=\"\/community\/pdf-open-data\/join\">join the group<\/a>, you will need a <a href=\"\/accounts\/request\">W3C account<\/a>. Please note, however, that <a href=\"\/community\/about\/faq\/#is-w3c-membership-required-to-participate-in-a-community-or-business-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">W3C Membership<\/a> is not required to join a Community Group.<\/p>\n<p>This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2016-07-17 by Larry Masinter. The following people supported its creation: Larry Masinter, Rohan Thacker, Herb Jellinek, Mike Perlman, Abe Jellinek, Leonard Rosenthol.
