The early draft of <a href=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/opentrack-cg\/spec\/credentials-uc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sports Competition Digital Credentials Use Cases<\/a> is available for review and to motivate other use cases, including other disciplines and sports. This document includes real challenges and opportunities for the natural <strong>application of the decentralized digital credentials paradigm<\/strong>. \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This document aims to collect the <strong>main challenges for sports federations, athletes, and service providers <\/strong>in the process of issuance and verification of credentials for the management of the competitions and the sport in general. We start from the authority of organizations like federations or competition integrity units that usually have independence to manage their stakeholders&#8217; identities and credentials, registering them and issuing licenses and permits to participate in regulated competitions and events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1300\" height=\"1196\" src=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/opentrack\/files\/2026\/04\/Issuance.png\" alt=\"Examples of issuers, holders, and credentials involved in the presentation use cases.\" class=\"wp-image-60\" title=\"Examples of issuers, holders, and credentials involved in the presentation use cases\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/opentrack\/files\/2026\/04\/Issuance.png 1300w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/opentrack\/files\/2026\/04\/Issuance-300x276.png 300w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/opentrack\/files\/2026\/04\/Issuance-1024x942.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/opentrack\/files\/2026\/04\/Issuance-768x707.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1300px) 100vw, 1300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the use cases, we are also collecting the requirements in terms of the type of credentials and documents involved, with the objective of defining <strong>common data models<\/strong> for a homogeneous future implementation. Some use cases have already been implemented as examples using the standards and reference implementations compatible with the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/eu-digital-identity-wallet\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/github.com\/eu-digital-identity-wallet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>European Digital Identity (EUDI)<\/strong> ecosystem<\/a>, with the idea of expanding the usage in real pilots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/opentrack-cg\/spec\/credentials-uc\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/opentrack-cg\/spec\/credentials-uc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the document<\/a> and send your feedback.
