{"id":17,"date":"2017-03-30T12:15:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T12:15:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/openactive\/?p=17"},"modified":"2018-01-25T17:48:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-25T17:48:51","slug":"progress-update-on-our-standards-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/openactive\/2017\/03\/30\/progress-update-on-our-standards-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Progress update on our standards work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few months the OpenActive community group have been\u00a0working on our first set of deliverables.<\/p>\n<p>Over on <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.openactive.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the OpenActive blog<\/a> I&#8217;ve just published <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.openactive.io\/progress-update-on-the-openactive-standards-work-958eee90daa6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a progress update\u00a0on our activity and work to date<\/a>. If you&#8217;re new to the community group or just want to get an overview of our current focus and areas of work, then that post is a great\u00a0place to start.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>With the publication of the first public draft of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openactive.io\/modelling-opportunity-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Modelling Opportunity Data<\/a> specification earlier this week, we are now looking\u00a0for more detailed implementation feedback.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re asking anyone currently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openactive.io\/technology.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">publishing open data as part of OpenActive<\/a> to review the specification to test it against real world data.<\/p>\n<p>The progress update identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.openactive.io\/progress-update-on-the-openactive-standards-work-958eee90daa6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">some of the areas in which we&#8217;re keen to get feedback<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the coming weeks we&#8217;ll continue to hold our regular community hangouts. These have all been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCXS84J1nXdAPyK545EI5XDA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">recorded and available on YouTube<\/a>. By working in the open in this way we help to keep a record of our discussions and progress, while allowing as many people as possible to be involved in the group&#8217;s activities. Here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-openactive\/2017Mar\/0024.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a summary of our discussion<\/a>\u00a0of yesterday&#8217;s meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Over the coming weeks we&#8217;ll be doing more work in some specific areas, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to standardise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openactive.io\/modelling-opportunity-data\/#physical-activities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">activity lists<\/a> within the sector, to simplify data integration<\/li>\n<li>Extending the specification to include details on support for disabilities at events. This is an important area and we&#8217;re going to take the time to focus on this and ensure its done correctly<\/li>\n<li>Starting to capture requirements around event attendance, availability and booking<\/li>\n<li>Producing more guidance around how to publish opportunity data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can find <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-openactive\/2017Mar\/0012.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">details on our next few calls<\/a>\u00a0on the mailing list.
