Notes from the latest session: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/nordic-accessibility\/2024\/06\/12\/purpose-workshop-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purpose Workshop 2024<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tobias says he originally came for the opportunity to network with accessibility people in a structured way, not in a US time zone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the purpose of this Community Group mainly networking?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We want to raise awareness of accessibility in the Nordics in general.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We have previously had success with our education and outreach group, pushing higher education to include accessibility in their curriculum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two purposes that Anne sees:&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure Nordic interests are represented in the different task-force groups at W3C. (E.g., WCAG, Maturity model, ACT, etc.)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We could do this by collectively writing public comments on the drafts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Study groups could be helpful in figuring out how to best participate in W3C work groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is suggested to have a talk about the EN 301 549 vs WCAG gaps and bridges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to structure a study group and its topics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>One idea is to have two study groups per session that can discuss a topic (in breakout rooms) and present it in the larger group.\u00a0For instance, a European Accessibility Act (EAA) discussion\/roundtable session to see the different implementations and additions of the EAA in the Nordic countries is interesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To gauge the Community Group&#8217;s interest, we will create a vote on which topics people would be interested in discussing\/studying:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ACT-rules<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EN 301 549 interpretations, gaps, and bridges to WCAG<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How are countries monitoring the EN standard apart from WCAG?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribution to the Accessibility Maturity Model<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessibility in higher education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WCAG3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tobias will set up a poll in Slack and link to it through the community email group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can we reach out to current W3C members in the Nordic?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 10 members in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aalto University<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agency for Digitalization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Criipto<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ERICSSON<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>National Library of Sweden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Siteimprove<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stiftelsen for internetinfrastruktur (IIS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tampere University<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whereby<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can we benefit from and contribute to W3C?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simo: Been in the COGA group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anne: Previous W3 group experience has been more official with a specific task. More of a networking group as it feels now. Are there any demands from W3C in terms of using the brand for a networking group?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stein-Erik: Get a start on the W3C groups. Is there a study group for how to participate better?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simo: W3C connection &#8211; is someone participating in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/events\/tpac\/2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TPAC meeting this month (hybrid)<\/a>? It&#8217;s kind of a main event for W3C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stein-Erik: Suggests contributing to the WCAG3 work with feedback, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is a Community Group supposed to do?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The description of a W3C group includes networking and open discussions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Community Groups may also choose to develop test suites, white papers, demos, or merely to hold discussions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/about\/#cg\">https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/about\/#cg<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>So maybe we can still keep the networking aspect that seems to draw the biggest crowd and combine it with the mentioned topics in study groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meeting details Date September 3, 2024 Participants Agenda We will try to answer: Meeting notes The discussion group format is a good way to discuss topics in a more focused manner.
