Monitoring &amp; Enforcement Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sweden<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitoring under the European Accessibility Act started two weeks ago.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Companies are beginning to respond after a period of waiting to see how enforcement would unfold.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Initial tests focus on:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search functionality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Product page(s)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accessibility documentation (e.g., accessibility statements)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four testers are currently employed; two more positions are planned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No consulting agencies are involved in the monitoring at this stage, and not expected in the near future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The initial scope is small \u2013 mainly large companies active in Sweden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There was agreement that consistency in testing across countries is important.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Denmark<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Published some accessibility resources and reached out to several companies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No central agency offering consulting or direct support to companies (unlike Estonia\u2019s advisory approach).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Finland<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No major updates reported.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Estonia<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Government provides general guidance on accessibility but does not have dedicated staff for EAA monitoring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion about potential inclusion of parcel lockers as part of the e-commerce flow under the EAA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Action<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Erik &amp; Tobias will both reach out to monitoring agencies (Sweden &amp; Denmark) to ask about their testing language and monitoring status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>WCAG 2.2, which is now approved as an ISO\/IEC international standard (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/press-releases\/2025\/wcag22-iso-pas\/\">source<\/a>). It is unclear whether some countries are actually using this version of WCAG when monitoring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Education &amp; Outreach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Accessibility in Higher Education<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General agreement that accessibility remains underrepresented in design and development curricula.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Universities are typically slower to adapt, but some two-year schools include accessibility more actively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anna-Liisa shared Maija Koivisto\u2019s PhD defence on interpretation in higher education as an inspiring example (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/anna-liisa-mattila-b74bb44_interpretation-internationalsign-finnishsignlanguage-activity-7364600874804871168-dzGA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">LinkedIn post<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Teach Access Europe<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Teach Access has expanded its activities to Europe: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teachaccess.org\/initiatives\/europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.teachaccess.org\/initiatives\/europe\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tobias will contact Teach Access Europe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anna-Liisa may reach out to them on behalf of Finland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shared contact: <a>info@teachaccess.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example from Denmark<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A student (Kosei) described an Accessibility Day at a Danish university covering laws, regulations, keyboard use, and font design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, accessibility rarely becomes part of the curriculum since companies don\u2019t demand it as a required skill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Events &amp; Interpretation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jakob and Tobias shared experiences from arranging AccessibleEU events with full accessibility support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Danish setup includes:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two Deaf interpreters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two hearing \u201cfeeders\u201d supporting them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two live captioners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important learning: While inclusion is essential, booking interpreters without confirmed need can be sensitive due to interpreter scarcity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.
