Notably, it enables captions to pause the video\u2019s audio when spoken:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>P\u00e4r&#8217;s experiments: <a href=\"https:\/\/metamatrix.se\/blogg\/understanding-spoken-subtitles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Understanding Spoken Subtitles \u2013 Metamatrix<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able Player&#8217;s documentation: <a href=\"https:\/\/ableplayer.github.io\/ableplayer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/ableplayer.github.io\/ableplayer\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sander<\/strong> mentioned that in the Netherlands, an <strong>accessible video player<\/strong> has been developed by the government, supporting toggling audio descriptions, and downloading separate accessibility assets (video-only, transcript, or audio description). Example video: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/documenten\/videos\/2022\/10\/10\/video-tim-ter-haar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/documenten\/videos\/2022\/10\/10\/video-tim-ter-haar<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements are Unclear:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The group discussed a key question: <strong>What are the actual requirements for spoken subtitles?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Should there be a button to enable spoken subtitles for all users (not just screen reader users)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How should these be presented to ensure compliance?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>EAA Uncertainties<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The group exchanged thoughts on the upcoming EAA, which is set to take effect later this summer. Currently, much remains unclear across different countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Observations &amp; Open Questions:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sweden:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Companies must <strong>self-report<\/strong> accessibility shortcomings to the monitoring agency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No <strong>official templates<\/strong> exist\u2014only law documents, which are vague about reporting requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uncertainty around <strong>public disclosure<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>How much detail should companies provide?<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>What level of transparency is required?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enforcement &amp; Penalties:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No clear answers yet on <strong>penalties<\/strong> for non-compliance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Question: Will <strong>monitoring agencies collaborate<\/strong> across countries or operate independently? Likely the latter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cross-Country Collaboration:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The EAA <strong>mentions a collaboration group (Article 28)<\/strong> for enforcement coordination, but this group does not appear to have been established yet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Accessibility of WAD Statements:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WAD (Web Accessibility Directive) statements are often written in <strong>complex, inaccessible language<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, the process of creating them <strong>forces organizations to engage with accessibility,<\/strong> potentially improving their practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3.
