{"id":457,"date":"2021-03-30T15:15:46","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T15:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/?p=457"},"modified":"2021-03-30T15:44:45","modified_gmt":"2021-03-30T15:44:45","slug":"co-chair-meeting-minutes-march-30-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/2021\/03\/30\/co-chair-meeting-minutes-march-30-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-chair meeting minutes: March 30, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MusicXML 4.0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>MusicXML 4.0 is now feature-complete, with all of the in-progress issues now closed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/203\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#203<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/204\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#204<\/a>: for guitar bends<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/281\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#281<\/a>: cross-staff arpeggios<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/297\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#297<\/a>: increasing the number-level maximum value<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#277<\/a>: same stem appearing in multiple parts<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Attention has now turned to building the MusicXML 4.0 documentation using the <strong>docgenerator<\/strong> tool, which has involved Michael and Adrian sharing feedback and progress \u2013&nbsp;for more specific details, see below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael welcomes feedback on the new features in MusicXML 4.0. If you want to build software or otherwise test against the new schemas, they are available <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/tree\/gh-pages\/schema\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SMuFL 1.4<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The final community report (FCR) for <a href=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/smufl\/releases\/1.4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">SMuFL 1.4<\/a> has been published (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/2021\/03\/smufl14\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/smufl\/releases\/1.4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>) and work on this revision of the specification is now complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SMuFL 1.4 FCR is released under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/about\/process\/final\/\">W3C Final Specification Agreement<\/a> (FSA), under which members of the community group are asked to make a voluntary licensing commitment concerning the intellectual property they have contributed to the project. For more information, read a summary of the FSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are ready to make your voluntary licensing commitment for SMuFL 1.4, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/spec\/193\/makecommitment\">please click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are no immediate plans to start work on SMuFL 1.5, but please feel free to continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/smufl\/issues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">raise and discuss issues<\/a> so that we can start to build a backlog of areas of future work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MNX<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian has been expanding the MNX documentation tool to handle a variety of new concepts in its data model. All of these are a result of his work to make the tool able to handle the needs of MusicXML:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Multiple schemas (in order to handle MusicXML&#8217;s Score, Opus, Sounds, etc. schemas)<\/li><li>A concept of &#8220;site options&#8221; (a place to hold site-specific metadata that&#8217;s globally available; previously the site hard-coded MNX for this)<\/li><li>Ability to treat an element&#8217;s sub-elements as either an ordered sequence or a set of choices<\/li><li>HTML formatting support for all description text<\/li><li>Support for static pages and collections thereof (which will be used, e.g., for the MusicXML tutorial and other documentation pages that aren&#8217;t handled by the automatic &#8220;reference&#8221; part of the docs)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/mnx\/tree\/master\/docgenerator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">README<\/a> has been updated to provide instructions on how to import the MusicXML XSD into the <strong>docgenerator<\/strong> system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian and Michael have been working together to plan the logistics of migrating the MusicXML docs to this system.
