The group aims to serve a broad range of users engaging in music-related activities involving notation, and will document these use cases.<\/p>\n<p>The initial task of the Community Group is to maintain and update the MusicXML and SMuFL (Standard Music Font Layout) specifications. The goals are to evolve the specifications to handle new use cases and technologies, including greater use of music notation on the web, while maximizing the existing investment in implementations of the existing MusicXML 3.0 and SMuFL specifications.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>In order to <a href=\"\/community\/music-notation\/join\">join the group<\/a>, you will need a <a href=\"\/accounts\/request\">W3C account<\/a>. Please note, however, that <a href=\"\/community\/about\/faq\/#is-w3c-membership-required-to-participate-in-a-community-or-business-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">W3C Membership<\/a> is not required to join a Community Group.<\/p>\n<p>This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2015-07-27 by Michael Good. The following people supported its creation: Michael Good, Michael Cooper, Joe Berkovitz, Doug Schepers, Coralie Mercier. W3C&#8217;s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of the activities.<\/p>\n<p>The group must now <a href=\"\/community\/about\/faq\/#how-do-we-choose-a-chair\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">choose a chair<\/a>.
