{"id":287,"date":"2019-11-12T20:37:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-12T20:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/?p=287"},"modified":"2019-11-12T20:37:13","modified_gmt":"2019-11-12T20:37:13","slug":"co-chair-meeting-minutes-november-12-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/2019\/11\/12\/co-chair-meeting-minutes-november-12-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-chair Meeting Minutes: November 12, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Daniel Spreadbury was unable to attend this meeting, but Adrian Holovaty and Michael Good discussed several issues in his absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MNX-Common<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian has created three new pull requests, all of which are ready for community feedback:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/mnx\/pull\/169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#169<\/a> implements slurs as &#8220;liaison content,&#8221; per our discussion from last meeting.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/mnx\/pull\/170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#170<\/a> makes the <code>&lt;head&gt;<\/code> tag optional.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/mnx\/pull\/171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">#171<\/a> specifies default barline treatment \u2014&nbsp;as a shortcut for the common case of &#8220;display a normal barline after each bar, except for the final bar, which should get a final barline.&#8221;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please comment there with feedback, even if you only want to give a thumbs-up emoji to express your support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian is planning to make one further improvement to #169: He&#8217;ll add a second slur example to the &#8220;MNX-Common by Example&#8221; document, showing how slurs-over-chords would work (which is worth providing an example for, given that a slur is attached to an individual note, begging the question &#8220;which note of the chord gets the slur?&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MusicXML<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael has done some catchup on the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">GitHub issue tracker<\/a> lately. There&#8217;s been some discussion in various issues, and he&#8217;s planning to review the continuing discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ISMIR report<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian gave a quick report about various notation-related projects he saw at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ismir2019.ewi.tudelft.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ISMIR conference<\/a> last week:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/OFAI\/partitura\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">partitura<\/a> is a Python library for manipulating semantic music data, currently with support for MusicXML import. (<a href=\"http:\/\/archives.ismir.net\/ismir2019\/latebreaking\/000013.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Paper here<\/a>.)<\/li><li>&#8220;A diff procedure for music score files&#8221; presented an algorithm for comparing two versions of a MusicXML file. (<a href=\"http:\/\/archives.ismir.net\/ismir2019\/latebreaking\/000002.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Paper here<\/a>.)<\/li><li>&#8220;Visual pattern analysis using digital sheet music&#8221; detects musical patterns in MusicXML files.
