{"id":275,"date":"2019-09-10T15:24:35","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T15:24:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/?p=275"},"modified":"2019-09-24T16:42:09","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T16:42:09","slug":"co-chair-meeting-minutes-september-10-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/music-notation\/2019\/09\/10\/co-chair-meeting-minutes-september-10-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-chair Meeting Minutes: September 10, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Octave shifts in MNX-Common<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have so far only had one comment on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/mnx\/pull\/158\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">pull request #158<\/a>, concerning a request to be more precise about the effect the <strong>octave-shift<\/strong> element has on both written and sounding pitch. It can be argued that the direction of the <strong>octave-shift<\/strong> could go either way, and so the co-chairs have decided to go with the same direction used in MusicXML. We think it might be worth having a separate discussion of the direction of the <strong>octave-shift<\/strong> in the spec. We will remove the description &#8220;true pitch value&#8221; to avoid any ambiguity about the effect on the written and sounding pitch. We are not going to revisit the more general definition of pitch for MNX-Common in connection with this pull request, though we do not rule it out for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian will make a few last changes to the pull request, and Michael and Daniel will review before the pull request is merged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spanning directions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian is still working on more definitions for spanning directions for inclusion in the MNX-Common specification and the <a href=\"https:\/\/w3c.github.io\/mnx\/by-example\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">MNX-Common by Example<\/a> page, which he hopes to have working soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MusicXML 3.2 update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael has added <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/issues\/293\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">issue #293<\/a> to cover the requirement of describing changes in sound for virtual instruments. There are currently 28 issues in the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/w3c\/musicxml\/milestone\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">MusicXML 3.2 milestone<\/a> for consideration, and sorted into general categories of issues to work on next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SMuFL 1.4 update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniel has not been able to devote any time to SMuFL 1.4 recently in the run-up to his recent product release but still anticipates being able to complete the work required for SMuFL 1.4 before the end of the calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Next meeting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The next meeting of the co-chairs is scheduled for September 24, 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Octave shifts in MNX-Common We have so far only had one comment on pull request #158, concerning a request to be more precise about the effect the octave-shift element has on both written and sounding pitch.
