{"id":74,"date":"2013-09-20T08:43:30","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T08:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/html5spec\/?p=74"},"modified":"2013-09-20T10:38:37","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T10:38:37","slug":"whats-the-best-historical-reference-for-html-browser-support-element-compatibility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/html5spec\/2013\/09\/20\/whats-the-best-historical-reference-for-html-browser-support-element-compatibility\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s the best reference for historical browser support\/element compatibility of HTML specifications?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Specifically, I&#8217;m looking for browser versions that first gave basic support to HTML elements, in IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mozilla Developer Network<\/strong> is a good resource; however, basic browser support of many elements in this resource are listed as &#8216;yes&#8217; instead of the first known compatible browser versions. <strong>Example:<\/strong> The bottom &#8216;Browser compatibility&#8217; table of <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.mozilla.org\/en-US\/docs\/Web\/HTML\/Element\/b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the summary for the (Bold) element<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other resources<\/strong> conflict on first supporting browser versions for various elements, and, don&#8217;t list references either. <strong>Example:<\/strong> Blooberry.com, an ancient (!) and popular resource, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blooberry.com\/indexdot\/html\/tagpages\/b\/bold.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lists the B element<\/a> as being first supported by IE in version 1. Aptana.com, however, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aptana.com\/reference\/html\/api\/CSS.element.Bold.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lists IE 2.0 as its first version supporting <strong><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Specifically, I&#8217;m looking for browser versions that first gave basic support to HTML elements, in IE, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and Safari.
