{"id":6,"date":"2011-10-11T14:53:15","date_gmt":"2011-10-11T14:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/games\/?p=6"},"modified":"2011-11-10T23:05:33","modified_gmt":"2011-11-10T23:05:33","slug":"welcome-to-the-games-community-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/games\/2011\/10\/11\/welcome-to-the-games-community-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to the Games Community Group!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>End of September 2011, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2011\/09\/games\/#participants\">group of people<\/a> passionate about games development and Web technologies gathered in Warsaw, Poland, next to the <a href=\"http:\/\/ongamestart.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">onGameStart<\/a> conference, to discuss game developers needs for the next Open Web Platform.<\/p>\n<p>During this half-day workshop, discussions covered more than 20 features that would ease the development of <em>cool<\/em>\u00a0games using regular Web technologies. Some of these features were highlighted as candidate features worth including in potential Web standards (e.g. Joystick API, hardware feature detection, orientation lock), others as already being standardized, yet others as requiring more discussion, not a priority, not directly relevant, or out of scope of W3C.\u00a0Check the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2011\/09\/games\/\">full report<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>The creation of a Games Community Group was proposed at the end of the workshop to pursue discussions, push for features of interest to be addressed by W3C working groups, monitor standardization progress, and otherwise <strong>serve as entry point for the games community in W3C<\/strong>.
