In several places around the web, the company is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2013\/5\/15\/4318830\/inside-hangouts-googles-big-fix-for-its-messaging-mess\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">replacing the existing &#8220;Talk&#8221; platform with a new one called &#8220;Hangouts&#8221;<\/a> that sharply diminishes support for the open messaging protocol known as XMPP (or sometimes informally Jabber), and also removes <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/talk\/answer\/161925\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the option to disable the archiving of all chat communications<\/a>.
