{"id":4,"date":"2013-09-20T02:14:29","date_gmt":"2013-09-20T02:14:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/etlml\/?p=4"},"modified":"2013-09-20T02:14:29","modified_gmt":"2013-09-20T02:14:29","slug":"etl-standardisations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/community\/etlml\/2013\/09\/20\/etl-standardisations\/","title":{"rendered":"ETL standardisations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I thought I would list a few things here in a post that I&#8217;ve discovered since proposing the ETL Markup Language group.<\/p>\n<p>Metadata Integration has a product called Metadata Integration Model Bridge (MIMB &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.metaintegration.net\/Products\/MIMB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.metaintegration.net\/Products\/MIMB\/<\/a>), which translates between various vendor standards for ETL &amp; BI components.<\/p>\n<p>Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omg.org\/spec\/CWM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.omg.org\/spec\/CWM\/<\/a>) allows interchange of metadata information between tools, platforms, and repositories.<\/p>\n<p>Business Intelligene Markup Language (BIML &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.varigence.com\/Products\/Biml\/Capabilities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http:\/\/www.varigence.com\/Products\/Biml\/Capabilities<\/a>) is a markup language covering ETL, schemas, dimensions, reports &#8211; but it is currently only compatible with Microsoft products.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere in between these and other initiatives, there is room for an open ETL standard, and tools to translate between vendor formats and the open standard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I thought I would list a few things here in a post that I&#8217;ve discovered since proposing the ETL Markup Language group.
