Based on that feedback and community support, <strong>we\u2019re publishing the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>Second Editor\u2019s Draft<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite everyone in the community to review this latest Editor\u2019s Draft and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/design-tokens\/community-group\/issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">join the conversation on GitHub<\/a> as we finalize the remaining details towards publishing a Final Report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For the first time, we also invite tool makers to start implementing the format with this milestone<\/strong> and share feedback with our team (GitHub preferred, or email <a href=\"mailto:kaelig@deloumeau.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">kaelig@deloumeau.fr<\/a> to discuss other ways to share privately).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to everyone in the community for your participation. We can\u2019t wait to build the future of design tokens together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s new?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is an overview of what has changed in this Second Editor\u2019s Draft:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breaking changes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These breaking changes are the most significant updates in this second draft, and will be of most interest to tool makers who were already relying on the first public draft (such as the Figma Tokens plugin):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/#name-and-value\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">All format properties<\/a> are now prefixed with <code>$<\/code>, as in: <code>type<\/code> \u2192 <code>$type<\/code><\/li><li>The <code>font<\/code> type has been renamed to <code>fontFamily<\/code><\/li><li>The <code>cubic-bezier<\/code> type has been renamed to <code>cubicBezier<\/code><\/li><li>User-defined composite types and the associated <code>typedef<\/code> type have been removed<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Community feedback around efficiency and commonly used patterns informed these additions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>New <a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/#font-weight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><code>fontWeight<\/code><\/a>\u00a0type<\/li><li>Additional pre-defined <a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/#composite-types\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">composite types<\/a>, supporting a wider range of common composite token needs: <code>strokeStyle<\/code>, <code>border<\/code>, <code>transition<\/code>, <code>shadow<\/code>, <code>gradient<\/code>, and <code>typography<\/code><\/li><li>Updates to <a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/#groups-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">groups<\/a>, improving readability and consistency<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A few other changes were made throughout the draft for clarity and grammatical errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We need your feedback<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The <a href=\"https:\/\/second-editors-draft.tr.designtokens.org\/format\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Second Editor\u2019s Draft<\/a> is the \u201clast call&#8221; for meaningful changes before the first Final Draft.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Post <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/design-tokens\/community-group\/issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>new issues<\/strong><\/a><strong> or join in on the GitHub <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/design-tokens\/community-group\/issues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>conversations<\/strong><\/a><strong> about any concerns, additions, or other changes you\u2019d like to discuss.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past several months, the team has been collecting feedback from the community on the First Public Editor\u2019s Draft.
